The wait is finally over! Arizona Broadway Theatre (ABT) proudly announces its 23 | 24 Season with musicals audiences love including Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Arizona Professional Theatre Premiere, and the highly-anticipated return and summer production, Disney’s The Little Mermaid.
Donors and full season subscribers gathered on Monday, February 27 to be the first to learn the productions for the upcoming season and enjoyed preview performances of songs from the season’s lineup. This type of roll-out of a new ABT production season has been a cherished tradition as many subscribers have been supporting ABT since 2006, or as many will say, “Since the Tent.”
The 23 | 24 Season opens with the return of an audience favorite Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat beginning September 29, 2023, with an opening season kick-off party. The musical follows favored son Joseph, his father Jacob, eleven brothers, and the coat of many colors in this over-the-top, Bible-inspired (Book of Genesis) musical comedy with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Throughout the years, ABT has been a part of many families’ and friends' seasonal traditions with dining and a holiday musical performance. Arizona Broadway Theatre holiday subscriber favorite Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, returns to the mainstage November – December 2023. Featuring songs from Irving Berlin, White Christmas sparkles with holiday cheer, dancing, and laughter.
Next up,beginning January 2024, experience On the Town, an exhilarating musical comedy with iconic location scenes in New York and an unforgettable score by Leonard Bernstein. Travel back to New York City in 1944 with three curious US Navy sailors in search of love, fun, and the beautiful Miss Turnstiles! With only 24 hours to hit the Big Apple, Gabey, Chip, and Ozzie prowl the city’s points of interest, each finding romance with interesting ladies, only to find themselves in “awkward” situations.
Heading into March 2024, get ready to go on an adventure with Charlie Bucket, an imaginative boy whose dreams of acquiring a golden ticket to tour Willy Wonka’s over-the-top chocolate factory, come true. Audiences will satisfy their sweet tooth, as ABT premieres the imaginative world of Roald Dahl’s classic children’s novel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. You’ll devour this family-friendly adventure that’s full of mouth-watering visuals that Must be Believed to be Seen. Strike that! Reverse it!
The last three productions of the season include A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, which starts in May 2024. This musical is a murderous romp filled with unforgettable music, nonstop laughs, and a scene-stealing role for one actor playing all eight of the doomed heirs who meet their ends in the most creative and side-splitting ways. This is a hilarious not-be-be-missed musical that will have you rolling in your seats with laughter.
Summer 2024, journey into a kingdom under the sea as Disney’s The Little Mermaid returns as it was placed on hold due to the pandemic. This is Arizona Broadway Theatre at its best, bringing Disney’s magic to life on the mainstage again after the success of its 2022 holiday production of The Christmas Carol The Musical and 2018 production of Mary Poppins.
Wrapping up the 23 | 24 Season, and with the popularity of ABT’s production of Game Show, audiences will again play an active role and help solve the murder with the Detective as CLUE The Musical begins in August 2024. Audiences are invited to dine and be in the room when ABT brings the world’s best-known suspects to the mainstage to solve this mystery. Six suspects, six rooms, and six weapons. With over 200 possible endings, everyone’s a suspect.

“Who Killed Mr. Boddy, in what room, and with what weapon?”. You’re invited to dine and be in the room when ABT brings the world’s best-known suspects to the Mainstage to solve this mystery.
