Silver Star Theater announces Auditions for Actors and a Piano Player for their upcoming Murder Mystery MURDER IN PARADISE on June 5

Audition Notice
Actors and Piano Player

Show: “Murder in Paradise” – an audience-participation, comedy murder mystery.

Audition Date/Time: Saturday, 5 June, 2021. 1:00 – 4:40 P.M.
Location: Silver Star Theatre, 5247 E. Brown, Mesa AZ, 85205

The Silver Star Theatre will be holding open auditions for its upcoming production of “Murder in Paradise.” Actors should prepare a short (no more than one minute) comedic monologue and be prepared to read from the script. This is a fully-scripted show, but the performances do require improvisational ability, so be prepared with your imagination… as well as your headshot and resume.

Rehearsals will be held in the evenings during the week and during the afternoons on Saturdays, depending on the availability of the cast/theatre.

The production is scheduled to open on Friday, 9 July for an initial run of six weeks, with a possible extension. Performances are on Friday and Saturday evenings.

This is paid work: $50 per performance, plus $100 for the rehearsal period.

This production takes place in a large room (there is no stage) with up to one-hundred guests, all of whom have been given new identities for the evening and are participants in the story.

The roles are as follows:

Calvin Winchester III (Male 45-60) -- Patriarch of the Winchester family: A game hunter from the old school. He organizes/leads safaris on the secluded Isle de Mortier in the South Pacific. He hunts for the joy of the chase. Great-grandson of Remington Winchester. Has a Texas accent.

Matilda de Mortier Winchester (Female 45-60) -- Calvin's wife. She hates the jungle, but loves the Winchester Manor (formerly the Chateau de Mortier), which has been in her family for generations. Her family had the status, but not the money, and was about to lose the de Mortier Preserve when she married Calvin. Has a French accent.

Reggie Winchester (M/F 18-30) -- Their son or daughter. S/He wants to inherit, then sell, the Manor, then move to civilization -- after s/he pays her/his huge gambling debts, of course. If s/he could grow up and become Thurston Howell III, s/he would.

Robert "Flash" La Rapier (Male 18-30) -- The fiendishly handsome photographer of the island's newspaper, with aspirations of becoming a filmmaker. Adopted son of Jacqueline La Rapier.

Claire Winchester (Female 18-30) -- The cowgirl daughter of Calvin and Matilda. Just returned from college, she will do whatever it takes to get what she wants in life. Must appear to be twenty years old.

Victoria Siren (Female 40-60) -- Cal’s former girlfriend. A former child star, once known as "The Gingerbread Girl," attempting to make a comeback as a serious adult actress, despite her complete lack of acting talent.

Sidney Lumière (Male 28-65) -- French auteur director who has become more Hollywood the longer he's stayed in the business. He is doing research for his next film, in which Victoria Siren is set to star. He keeps his French accent hidden… most of the time.

Chives (Male 25-65) -- The Manservant of the Winchester Manor. Loyal, droll, and deadly accurate in his appraisals of personalities. He is rarely without his cup of tea nearby. He also serves as the Stage Manager for the production.

Chief Inspector Wes Chester (Male 45-60) -- This ex-San Francisco cop is an old friend of the Winchesters. He has seen the seamy underside of life and, years ago. took Calvin's offer to become the Chief Inspector of Police of the Island. He leads the investigation. (Played by the same actor who plays Calvin.) This role has a very large line load.

Magistrate de Liqueur (Male 25-65) -- A bumbling-yet-earnest French aristocrat who has risen to the level of his incompetence. Regally titled and royally broke. (Played by the same actor who plays Chives.)

Piano Player – Although the show is not a musical, it is accompanied throughout be a piano player – as in a melodrama. A score is provided, but “musical commentary” is essential and encouraged.
