AGATHA CRISTIE’S SPIDER’S WEB - Scottsdale Desert Stages Theatre - June 25 – July 11, 2021

Come be part of the fun as the Queen of Mystery, Agatha Christie, pokes fun at the genre that made her famous.  Mixing equal parts of tension and dark humor, Clarissa, a diplomat’s spouse, finds her normally entertaining and unflappable self smack dab in the middle of a drawing room murder. Desperate to dispose of the body, she enlists the help of her guests. Hilarity ensues when they are interrupted by the arrival of wry detective, Inspector Lord.  In this conscious parody of the detective thriller, Christie delivers a unique blend of suspense and humor.

Directed by Dan Ashlock, Jr.

TICK, TICK...BOOM! - Scottsdale Desert Stages Theatre - May 7-16, 2021

Written by American composer Jonathan Larson, who won a Pulitzer and three Tony Awards for his musical Rent.

Tick, Tick. Boom! tells the story of an aspiring composer named Jon, who lives in New York City in 1990. Jon is worried he has made the wrong career choice to be part of the performing arts. The story is autobiographical, as stated by Larson's father in the liner notes of the cast recording - Larson had been trying to establish himself in theater since the early 1980s. Larson began to perform the piece as a solo work in 1990. After his death in 1996, it was revised and revamped by playwright David Auburn as a three-actor piece and was premiered Off-Broadway in 2001. Since then, the show has had an Off-West End production, a West End production, an American national tour, two Off-Broadway revivals in 2014 and 2016, and numerous local and international productions.

THE ODD COUPLE - Scottsdale Desert Stages Theatre - April 9-25, 2021

By Neil Simon

Directed by Virginia Olivieri

Neil Simon’s classic comedy opens as a group of the guys are in the midst of their weekly poker game in the apartment of divorced sportswriter, Oscar Madison. And if the mess is any indication, it’s no wonder that his wife left him. The apartment is smoke-filled, and the only thing Oscar can offer his guests is warm Coke and moldy sandwiches. The last to arrive is Felix Ungar, who has just been thrown out by his wife. Felix is depressed and seems suicidal, leading Oscar to invite Felix to be his roommate. However, as Felix takes on the domestic mantle in the apartment and proves just how difficult he is to live with, Oscar is driven to the edge of madness. Poker nights are no longer evenings of smoke, grubbiness, and blokey behavior; instead, the guys are waited on hand and foot by Felix. The final straw occurs when Felix refuses to follow through with a double-date Oscar has set up with the beautiful Pigeon sisters, who live in the same apartment block. The clean freak and the slob come to blows, and the ultimate ‘Odd Couple’ go their separate ways.
