BIG FISH - Actor's Youth Theatre - June 22 - July 1
AYT is excited to be able to officially announce our summer show - Big Fish!!!
BIG FISH is a new Broadway musical featuring music and lyrics by Tony nominee Andrew Lippa
(The Addams Family, The Wild Party) and a new book by esteemed screenwriter John August
(Big Fish, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory).
Based on the celebrated novel by Daniel Wallace and the acclaimed film directed by Tim Burton, BIG FISH centers on Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman who lives life to its fullest… and then some! Edward's incredible, larger-than-life stories thrill everyone around him – most of all, his devoted wife Sandra. But their son Will, about to have a child of his own, is determined to find the truth behind his father’s epic tales.
Overflowing with heart, humor and spectacular stagecraft, BIG FISH is an extraordinary new
Broadway musical that reminds us why we love going to the theatre – for an experience that's richer, funnier and BIGGER than life itself.
From Playbill.com:
"A rollicking fantasy set in the American South, Big Fish centers on the charismatic Edward Bloom,
whose impossible stories of his epic adventures frustrate his son Will. As Edward's final chapter approaches,
Will embarks on his own journey to find out who his father really is, revealing the man behind the myth,
the truth from the tall tales."

THIS COULD BE MURDER Actor's Youth Theatre December 17 - 20, 2014
Directed by Zack Diepstraten
This Could Be Murder
By Craig Sodaro
When media giant Noah Lott suddenly drops dead from suspicious causes, Polly DeWitt, the host of "The-Polly-DeWitt-My-Way-Show" sees this as a great media opportunity and decides to throw a dinner party to solve the murder. Along with her offbeat staff of so-called experts and a little "help" from the local law, she tries to find the murderer but lo and behold two more bodies turn up.
As the body count rises, things quickly turn into a comedic unorganized chaotic mess. Who's the murderer? Is it Polly? Is it Verna, Polly's trustworthy housekeeper? Is it me? Or perhaps....... is it you???

FOOTLOOSE - Actor's Youth Theatre - January 21 - 31, 2015
Music by Tom Snow
Lyrics by Dean Pitchford
Stage Adaptation by Dean Pitchford and Walter Bobbie
Based on the original screenplay by Dean Pitchford
Additional Music by Eric Carmen, Sammy Hagar, Kenny Loggins and Jim Steinman
One of the most explosive movie musicals in recent memory bursts onto the live stage with exhilarating results. When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, Ren is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. What he isn't prepared for are the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher, determined to exercise the control over the town's youth that he cannot command in his own home. When the reverend's rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren's reputation, with many of the locals eager to believe the worst about the new kid. The heartfelt story that emerges is of a father longing for the son he lost and of a young man aching for the father who walked out on him. To the rockin' rhythm of its Oscar and Tony-nominated top 40 score (the soundtrack album reached number one on the Billboard charts and has sold over 15 million copies!) and augmented with dynamic new songs for the stage musical, FOOTLOOSE celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people.
