Its hard work being a prince.  After all, you have to make sure your clothes are the latest in fashion, your teeth are shiny, and your hair is utterly perfect.  And, of course, you need to be charming.  Prince Stephan has devoted his life to being the ultimate prince.  But, of course, the one thing an ultimate prince needs most is a picture-perfect princess.  Unfortunately, Stephan’s plans for marriage quickly deteriorate when he meets Princess Tilly, a clumsy young woman who accidentally knocks him out of a window.  Stranded in his own kingdom for the first time, Stephan learns of a terrible beast plaguing his people.  The ultimate prince would defeat any such beast, so Stephan embarks on a quest with Tilly and his court jester, Felicity, to set things right again.  Of course, the beast isn’t exactly what he thought it would be…

MARION AND THE MERRY MEN - East Valley Children's Theatre - June 16 - 26, 2022

Marion and the Merry Men, a new legend of Robin Hood, an original play by C. Lynn Johnson

Marion may still be a maid, but she is her own hero.  When she learns of a nefarious scheme, Marion escapes to Sherwood Forest where she meets the one and only Robin Hood and his band of Merry Men.  However, their reputation doesn’t quite meet reality and Marion must help lead them against the Sheriff of Nottingham and Prince John – saving England and into a legend! The story you know and love, but with a fresh perspective the whole family will love.

East Valley Children's Theatre's 2021 / 2022 25th Anniversary Season!


East Valley Children's Theatre celebrates 25 years of theater opportunities for youth age 8-18, kicking off with The Clumsy Princess, Sept. 23-Oct. 3, in the Nesbitt/Elliott Playhouse Theatre in the Mesa Arts Center in downtown Mesa. 

Winner of EVCT's 2020 Aspiring Playwrights Contest, The Clumsy Princess is an original work about a charming prince looking for the picture-perfect princess to ask her hand in marriage. Instead, he meets Princess Tilly, who knocks him out of a window, leaving him stranded in his own kingdom on a quest to defeat the beast plaguing the land. 

Following this hysterical opening production, the next show is a holiday favorite, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, the musical, on stage Dec. 2-12. 

Another original work and winner of EVCT's 2021 Aspiring Playwrights Contest, The Prince and the Pauper, the musical will feature a new twist on a familiar story Feb. 10-20, 2022. 

Closing out the anniversary season is another original adaptation of a familiar story with Marion and the Merry Men, A New Legend of Robin Hood, June 16-26.
