AMERICAN PASTORELA: THE TRUMPIFORNICATION TOUR, 2.0 - New Carpa Theatre - December 18-21, 2025

American Pastorela: The Trumpifornication Tour, 2.0

(A satire for our times)

The Familia Hernandez from Altar, Mexico gets word another capitol riot is planned—this time in Phoenix. So because they're proud, patriotic Americans (Reagan gave them amnesty) they decide to march north across the archetypically unforgiving desert to warn the world (and Maricopa County Democrats) that Kash Patel, the Texas National Guard, and a battalion of North Korean mercenaries are coming! Soooooo, they're off to see the governor—and anyone else who'll take a meeting on short notice—BECAUSE! BECAUSE! BECAUUUUSSE! Because of the criminal things he does. (This play is nonpartisan.)

Tickets at newcarpa.org. Opening night is half-price off.

Free tickets available for needy and disadvantaged groups. Email info@newcarpa.org for details.

audition notice - AMERICAN PASTORELA: THE ROAD TO IMPEACHMENT - New Carpa Theater Company - July 31

Bato Hernandez gets a Tweet while sitting on his porch in Altar, Sonora. Congress is launching impeachment hearings in D.C. This reminds him that he met a guy named Sergei at a bar months earlier who handed him a flash drive, saying only, "Study this. It’s about our cray cray friend in America," before disappearing into the crowd. Bato pops the flash drive into his laptop and discovers smoking-gun evidence implicating Trump in a slew of crimes, none of which involve pee pee in Russia. “Familia Hernandez,” Bato shouts, “we’re going to Washington!” Comedy ensues. We’re not kidding. En serio.

review - 1070 (WE WERE STRANGERS ONCE, TOO) - New Carpa Theatre Company

highlights from local critics reviews - (click link at bottom of each review to read complete review)

Click here for more information on this production that runs through July 9th.

"...1070: WE WERE ONCE STRANGERS TOO, director-playwright James Garcia focuses on an immigrant Mexican family caught in the (sometime literal) crosshairs of Arizona Senate Bill 1070....This bill empowered law enforcement officers to stop, detain or arrest individuals suspected of being (or anyone sheltering, hiring or transporting) unregistered aliens....Putting a brave face on the Avila family is undocumented daughter Dulce (a very promising Anna Flores). We see what she sees, feel what she feels, as she becomes an activist for civil rights...Dulce's mother (Sonia Rodriguez), father (Juan Gomez), sister (Valerie German) and brother (Angel Lopez) are well cast and each plays a key role in the family dynamic. Co-director Alejandro Sanchez Vega does an outstanding job as the rogue deputy. His scenes with younger sister Viri and then her family are raw and disturbing...."
