IN Focus is a FREE monthly event

Celebrating Creativity, Conversation, and community.

Inspired by the artistic salons of 16th-century Italy and 17th- and 18th-century France, IN Focus brings artists and audiences together in an intimate and welcoming environment where ideas, stories, and creativity can flourish.

IN Focus is more than a performance series—it's an opportunity to connect, ask questions, share perspectives, and gain a deeper appreciation of the creative process.

Admission is FREE and open to the public.

THE NERD - Order Chaos Theater Company - September 18 - October 4, 2026

What happens when the man who once saved your life becomes the man most likely to ruin it? In Larry Shue’s riotous comedy The Nerd, mild‑mannered architect Willum Cubbert finally meets Rick Steadman — the heroic ex‑GI he’s spent years praising but has never actually seen. When Rick arrives unannounced at Willum’s birthday party in 1979 Terre Haute, the long‑awaited reunion quickly spirals into comic disaster. Rick turns out to be a spectacularly awkward, boundary‑obliterating nerd whose well‑intentioned but catastrophic behavior upends Willum’s home, career, and sanity. As Rick settles in for a stay that feels like it may last until the next century, Willum and his friends scramble to survive the escalating chaos — only to discover that in this farcical whirlwind, nothing is quite what it seems.

Claus & Effect: An Elf Union Reunion, the elves have taken over the North Pole — and Mrs. Claus is just trying to keep Christmas on schedule. With the Union Reunion in full swing, the workshop is bursting with singing, dancing, mischief, and more than a few labor-negotiation-style shenanigans. As Mrs. Claus juggles party chaos with the small task of keeping Christmas on schedule, this beloved OCTC holiday tradition delivers music, laughter, surprises, and enough festive cheer to power any labor force during the holidays.

WAITING FOR GODOT - Order Chaos Theater Company - April 9 - 25, 2027

Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot is a darkly comic, existential tale of two companions, Vladimir and Estragon, who pass their days waiting for a mysterious figure who never arrives. As they fill the endless hours with banter, arguments, games, and fleeting encounters with the eccentric Pozzo and Lucky, the play transforms waiting itself into a profound exploration of hope, absurdity, and the human need for meaning. A landmark of modern theatre, it’s both hilarious and haunting — a story where nothing happens, twice, and yet everything is at stake.

In Steve Martin’s wild adaptation, The Underpants, a simple wardrobe malfunction ignites a full-blown comic frenzy. When Louise’s underpants accidentally fall during a royal parade, her husband Theo panics about public humiliation — but the mishap suddenly makes their quiet apartment the hottest destination in town. Suitors, poets, and eccentrics come crashing into their lives, each more absurd than the last, turning domestic life into a whirlwind of flirtation, farce, and social satire. Smart, silly, and unmistakably Martin, this play turns one tiny scandal into a riotous chain reaction of desire and ridiculousness.

Order Chaos Theater Company's 2026/2027 Season!

Order Chaos Theater Company (OCTC), a resident company of The Herberger Theater Center, proudly announces its 2026–2027 Season. All performances will take place at The Kax Stage, continuing OCTC’s tradition of intimate, community‑centered storytelling in one of Phoenix’s most beloved arts venues.

The season launches in September with Larry Shue’s riotous comedy The Nerd, directed by Mark‑Alan C. Clemente. A masterclass in farce and escalating absurdity, The Nerd opens the season with high energy and big laughs.

In December, OCTC’s annual holiday tradition returns with Claus & Effect: An Elf Union Reunion, an original work written and directed by J.P. Clemente. This festive musical in cabaret style brings audiences a joyful blend of humor, heart, and holiday mischief.

The new year begins in January with Eve Ensler’s groundbreaking and globally acclaimed The Vagina Monologues, directed by Maren Maclean. This powerful piece amplifies women’s voices through bold, intimate storytelling that remains as resonant today as ever.

In April, OCTC presents Samuel Beckett’s iconic absurdist masterpiece Waiting for Godot, directed by Cody Dull. A cornerstone of modern theatre, Godot invites audiences into a world of existential humor, poetic language, and unforgettable characters.

Closing the season in June is Steve Martin’s sharp, satirical comedy The Underpants, directed by Meribeth Reeves. With Martin’s signature wit and theatrical flair, this adaptation brings the season to a lively and clever finale.
