"Like the beloved 1982 film it's based on, Tootsie the musical follows a struggling actor who disguises himself as a woman to get a job, only to gain a new understanding of the sexism women frequently face. The stage adaptation updates the plot with a fresh theatrical setting while still retaining the humor and heart that made the original a crowd pleaser.
