"You have to hand it to Neon Cactus Playhouse, a new theatre company in Phoenix, for their decision to present for their first production a relatively obscure musical which is also a show that's an unapologetic departure from traditional musicals. Bat Boy: The Musical is a campy satire. the unconventional nature of Bat Boy, which blends horror, drama, comedy, and satire into a campy mishmash of genres, unfortunately fails to coalesce into a cohesive narrative.
