Tentative Callbacks: December 7th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 2023
To pre-register for your audition (preferred, but not required), and for more details please go to: https://vyt.com/section/auditions
Please bring a headshot (it doesn't have to be professional. Just a good photo that looks like you!) and an acting or theater resume.
For the general auditions, there are 2 parts to prepare…
Part 1 - Please prepare a monologue
- a memorized or well prepared monologue: pick a monologue from the links provided below - OR – you can perform a monologue of your choosing (keep it to about 1 min in length).
- Make strong character choices with your voice, gestures and facial expressions as you perform in your audition.
We have provided several short monologues from characters in the show. Peruse the monologues at the link below and choose one that you feel fits your strengths.
Note: In 'Starcatcher', British accents are used for many of the characters. If you have a British accent, please try to use it for your monologue. If you don't feel confident with a British accent, no worries - you can use an American dialect, but try to create an interesting vocal style for the character you choose.
Starcatcher Monologues:
Part 2 - Please prepare a song
There are some featured singing roles in Starcatcher and group singing in the ensemble, so we want to hear your singing ability.
- Choose a 30-45 secs segment of a musical theater song that best highlights your singing voice. We would prefer no acapella singing. (Choose a song that is appropriate for your vocal range, and make strong character choices with your voice, gestures and facial expressions as you perform in the audition)
- We will have a piano accompanist present, so bring well marked sheet music to give to the pianist.
- Or use a backing track (karaoke track) and have it cued to the portion of the song you will use. You will only sing 30-45 secs, so choose a segment that highlights your singing. A speaker will be available for playback of your backing tracks.
Rehearsals: Approximate rehearsal dates are December 13th through February 8th, Monday through Thursday evenings and Saturdays. Before tech, evening rehearsals will be 5pm - 9pm; tech rehearsals will potentially go until 10pm.
Performances: February 9th through 25th, 2023 with several weekday matinees for schools in addition to the traditional evening and weekend performances.

Synopsis:
The Neverland you never knew. This Tony award winning show uses imaginative storytelling and boundless creativity to tell the comic and epic origin story of Peter Pan. Starcatcher apprentice Molly, Peter and their friends are hunted by marauding pirates and their comically eccentric captain, BlackStache as they race to protect a trunk of magical "Starstuff." Peter and the Starcatcher playfully explores the bonds of friendship, duty, love and family. This is a play with music (not a full musical), and has a few leading singing roles.
