AUDITIONS FOR THE NEW ORIGINAL MUSICAL - THE BALLAD OF BUZZARD BASIN


WHEN: Saturday, June 13 at 3:30pm and Sunday, June 14 at 4:00pm. Callbacks, if required, will follow the Sunday auditions

WHERE: Fountain Hills Theater
11445 N Saguaro Blvd., Fountain Hills, AZ

This original musical comedy by the award winning Artistic Director of The Fountain Hills Theater, Peter J. Hill is the tale of Buzzard Basin the ideal western town plagued by a coward who refuses to live up to the ‘Code of the West’.

The Ballad of Buzzard Basin will be directed by Peter J. Hill with choreography by Noel Irick.

Auditioners should call 480-837-9661 X 3 for an audition appointment time.

Auditioners are asked to prepare 16 – 32 bars of a song that best shows off their voice. An accompanist is provided. Please provide sheet music in the correct key. No pre-recorded music, please. Dress to move for the dance audition. Please bring resume and headshot if possible. Callbacks will follow after the Sunday auditions and will consist of singing from the show and cold reading from the script.

The theater is located at 11445 N. Saguaro Blvd., Fountain Hills

The Ballad of Buzzard Basin will play Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday matinees from Friday, July 24- Sunday, August 9. All rehearsals will be held at the theater.

Roles :

The Balladeer: (Age and gender open) The friendly, guitar-playing narrator of the show.
Black Jack Steele: (Male 25-50) The fastest and deadliest gun in the west.
*Dusty Bottoms: (Male, age open) A Cowboy, destined to die.
Sheriff: (Male, age open) Strong-willed and lantern-jawed upholder of the peace.
Deputy: (Male, age open) His less than bright deputy.
Texas Lil: (Female. 18-30) A dance hall hostess with a heart of gold.
Doc Rivers: (Male 40+) The town’s tippling doctor.
The Reverend Alvin Blackroot: (Male 30+) Aa unbendable man of the cloth.
Mrs. Blackroot: (Female 30+) His equally unbendable wife
Hoss: (Age open) A Cowboy
Slim: (Age open) A Cowboy
Tumbleweed: (Age open) A Cowboy
Clay: (Age open) A Cowboy
Kitty: (Age open) A Dance hall girl
Coco: (Age open) A Dance hall girl
Candy: (Age open) A Dance hall girl
Carmelitta: (Age open) A Dance hall girl
Skragg Mudd: The town drunk who goes from coward to bully and back again.
*Rusty Johnson: (Male, age open) A Cowboy, destined to die.
*Buck Neked: (Male, age open) A Cowboy, destined to die.

*Should be played by the same actor.
