Stars of the stage and screen, Alex and Lynn are unhappily married; Alex loves Jane, but Jane is Herbert’s girlfriend; and Herbert wrote the play that Alex and Lynn are starring in with hopes of making a triumphant comeback to the stage. Add a confused gardener and a stage manager trying to keep things in order, and you have a recipe for disaster with a dash of love, a sprinkle of loathing, a splash of suspicion, and one dead body.

Auditions for NUNSENSE at Hale Centre Theatre announced for October 9
Hale Centre Theatre will be holding auditions for the musical Nunsense. The show will be directed by Cambrian James with music direction by Cathy Hauan. Nunsense is scheduled to run from January 11th, 2022 through February 15th, 2022. Performances will be Mondays and Tuesdays with matinee and evening performances. This production will have two casts with approximately 9 performances each.
In-person auditions are available by appointment only on October 9th. Video submissions are due by October 9th at 10:00 AM. Important: if submitting your video audition select the "Video Appointment" box on the sign up page.
Auditions are open to all and we extend an invitation for all races and ethnicities to submit. Posted ages are guidelines only.
Synopsis
The hilarious international hit! After 52 poor sisters are accidentally poisoned by the convent cook, The Little Sisters of Hoboken stage a talent show in order to raise the money to bury their dearly departed. With ballet, tap dancing, semi-professional circus performing and more!

The Bridge Initiative announces Building Bridges at ASU Kerr
The Bridge Initiative announces Building Bridges @ ASU Kerr, a new collaboration of twice-monthly offerings from October 2021 through May 2022. This two-pronged series centers community conversation using theatre as the lens to interrogate our world and relationships to each other. Monthly Muse will be offered one Sunday each month, kicking off Sunday, October 10th, at 6pm. The Broadway Book Club... TODAY! will be presented one Thursday each month starting Thursday, October 21st, at 11am. All programming takes place at ASU Kerr, 6110 N Scottsdale Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85253.
With the division and fracturing caused by the COVID pandemic and current political climate, The Bridge Initiative aims to be the bridge in our community, creating a safe space for audiences and artists to engage in dialogue and healing. ASU Kerr has strict COVID protocols including mandatory masking and its intimate venue dictates smaller attendance and additional reassurance of a safe space. Artistic expression and exploration as well as theatre's role in empathy building have perhaps never been more vital as we return to communal spaces. Building Bridges is emblematic of the nontraditional programming The Bridge Initiative is exploring as it spends 2021-22 redefining what theatre is and can be.
Monthly Muse programming launches Sunday, October 10th at 6pm with Filling the Creative Well: For Artists & Everyone! curated by Natalie Andrews. Facilitated by some of the Valley’s leading experts on creativity, including Cyndi Coon and Brian Foley, this hands-on learning experience will take participants through a series of guided exercises, games, and visualizations to focus imagination and sharpen creative problem-solving skills.
The Broadway Book Club... TODAY! is hosted by Brenda Jean Foley and Will Rogers, with Broadway veteran James May serving as musical director. Special guest on Thursday, October 21st at 11am will be Kelli James Chase whose professional career highlights include the original Broadway production of Les Miserables. The show's format will include live performance and conversation, including opportunities for the audience to be in dialogue with the artists.

Play Synopsis: Mrs. Savage has been left ten million dollars by her husband and wants to make the best use of it, in spite of her grown-up stepchildren’s efforts to get their hands on it. Knowing that the widow’s wealth is now in negotiable securities, and seeing they cannot get hold of the fortune, the stepchildren commit her to a sanatorium hoping to “bring her to her senses.” In the sanatorium Mrs. Savage meets various social misfits, men and women who just cannot adjust themselves to life, people who need the help Mrs. Savage can provide. In getting to know them, she realizes that she will find happiness with them, she hesitates to go out into a hard world where people seem ready to do anything for money.

"Based on his play Legends Of: The Werewolf, Beau Heckman is clearly a big fan of the classic 1970s TV show "In Search Of ...,"...Heckman has appeared in more than a dozen plays at Southwest Shakespeare Company and he makes his playwriting debut with the company with this mostly one-man piece that traces the history of werewolves. While there are a few small shortcomings, it is very fun and entertaining and makes for a nice spooky show for the Halloween season...Heckman is a skilled actor and his work here is very good. As he tells the stories he becomes the various characters in them, with the keen use of accents and different body postures. "With a fantastic score and an emotionally rich story that focuses on the impact of mental illness on a family, Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey's Pulitzer Prize winning Next to Normal is one of the best contemporary musicals of the past 20 years...With a superb cast, clear direction, impressive creative elements, and a sensational orchestra, Mesa Community College's recent production of this musical was stellar....Lindsay Decoste beautifully captured the wide range of constantly changing emotions of Diana...As Dan, Austin Stuart did an excellent job portraying the compassionate and caring husband and father. ...Jayla Quartullo was exceptional as Natalie, showing a young woman desperately seeking some kind of connection but also possessing an amount of assurance that everything will be okay. MISSION:
Educate, inspire and grow youth to reach their fullest potential on stage and in life.
You will be hired as an independent contractor with AYT.
The Independent Contractor Agreement contains information pertinent to the position, your specific role, compensations, AYT's code of conduct and important dates
POSITION SUMMARY:
The AYT Assistant to the Artistic Director supports the Artistic Director. They will oversee the strategy and execution of all facility activity at AYT. This is a high-visibility role, requiring collaboration with all levels and groups across the theater, while also being hands-on in bringing every event to life. This role reports to the Artistic Director or the Executive Director in the absence of an Artistic Director.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
The Assistant Artistic Director is a part-time position reporting to the Artistic Director.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Coordinate and support logistics of all theatre events (including the theatre's shows, classes and group performances)
• Assist the Artistic Director in coordinating staff and staff meetings
• Manages web page updates
• Manage detailed building schedules created by the Artistic Director and other important documentation; weekly class schedules and class lists, long range plan for group rehearsals and performances
• Help conduct site inspections of event spaces as needed (staying well-informed on space capacities, recommended layouts, and technical capabilities); assist in reviewing and maintaining licencing contracts for all shows
• Assist the Artistic Director in communication with boxoffice, teachers, Executive Director and Artistic Director to ensure all schedules are posted and communicated in a timely manner
• Be the on-site venue manager as scheduled
• Backup for Box Office Manager in managing payroll
• Assists Executive Director with fundraising goals and grant writing
• Assists the Artistic Director in scheduling and communicating daily theatre usage and rental
• Abides by the AYT Staff Ethics Policy
• Acts as the Artistic Director in the absence of the Artistic Director
SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
• 3+ years prior experience in events or hospitality; supervising experience a plus
• Works well with students, their parents, AYT staff and demonstrates friendliness, enthusiasm and a customer-centric approach
• Proficiency in digital resources for planning, budgeting, creating timelines and scheduling
• Fluency with technology
• Familiarity with layout, seating, and ticketing software
• Displays excellent communication skills and an understanding of how to facilitate growth in children and young adults
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
OTHER SKILLS/AB LIT ES/KNOWLEDGE/WORK STYLE:
• Demonstrates flexibility, common sense, and good judgment
