POSITION SUMMARY:
The AYT Assistant to the Artistic Director supports the Artistic Director. They will oversee the strategy and execution of all facility activity at AYT. This is a high-visibility role, requiring collaboration with all levels and groups across the theater, while also being hands-on in bringing every event to life. This role reports to the Artistic Director or the Executive Director in the absence of an Artistic Director.

The Assistant Artistic Director is a part-time position reporting to the Artistic Director.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Coordinate and support logistics of all theatre events (including the theatre's shows, classes and group performances)
• Assist the Artistic Director in coordinating staff and staff meetings
• Manages web page updates
• Manage detailed building schedules created by the Artistic Director and other important documentation; weekly class schedules and class lists, long range plan for group rehearsals and performances
• Help conduct site inspections of event spaces as needed (staying well-informed on space capacities, recommended layouts, and technical capabilities); assist in reviewing and maintaining licencing contracts for all shows
• Assist the Artistic Director in communication with boxoffice, teachers, Executive Director and Artistic Director to ensure all schedules are posted and communicated in a timely manner
• Be the on-site venue manager as scheduled
• Backup for Box Office Manager in managing payroll
• Assists Executive Director with fundraising goals and grant writing
• Assists the Artistic Director in scheduling and communicating daily theatre usage and rental
• Abides by the AYT Staff Ethics Policy
• Acts as the Artistic Director in the absence of the Artistic Director
SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
• 3+ years prior experience in events or hospitality; supervising experience a plus
• Works well with students, their parents, AYT staff and demonstrates friendliness, enthusiasm and a customer-centric approach
• Proficiency in digital resources for planning, budgeting, creating timelines and scheduling
• Fluency with technology
• Familiarity with layout, seating, and ticketing software
• Displays excellent communication skills and an understanding of how to facilitate growth in children and young adults
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Regularly required to stand, sit, talk
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 lbs.
• Long stretches at a computer, doing paperwork and answering phones, email or other communication
Salary: Commensurate with experience $200/week (reviewed quarterly)
Hours: Part Time (10-15 hours per week)
Performance Review: Conducted annually by the Artistic Director
