Auditions for HAUNTED CASTLE at Ronin Theatre Collaborative announced for August 29

Ronin Theatre Collaborative and Irish Cultural Center present

Haunted Castle: Memento Mori

The grounds of the ICC are already a thin place where the dead sing and spirits walk. This October though, ghosts confined in eternal repetitions of their suffering will become fully visible to us & if we’re not careful, we will become visible to them. Your guide will lead you through this undead terrarium as we the living must pay witness to the dead to survive…

 
Performance Dates: Oct 21st-24th, Oct 28-30th

Audition date: Aug 29th 12-6 in Great Hall of Irish Cultural Center located at 1106 N Central Ave Phoenix, AZ 85004

 
What to prepare?

A 1-2 minute monologue of any monologue (Contemporary or Classical) or poem/short story, Horror related pieces are preferred but not necessary. Cold readings/sides will also be provided at the auditions for select pieces.

Video auditions will also be accepted and please send to ronintheaterco@gmail.com no later than Aug 28th.

Available roles for  Haunted Castle plays are as follows:

Cleary by Antoinette Martin-Hanson, Directed by Matt Clarke

PATRICK BOLAND — Male, 50s-60s. Bridget's father. Stooped posture, weathered. Gentle, not commanding. Needs to land both tenderness and helplessness.

MICHAEL CLEARY — Male, plays mid-30s, several years older than Bridget. Bridget's husband. Broad build, intense presence. Must credibly swing between genuine tenderness and menace without tipping his hand early.


Matte Kudashi by Jonathan Gonzalez, Directed by Melody Knudson

Asanuma: F (Asian Actor). A miko in league with Cethleann, brings a certain "the Chipotle I work at closes in five minutes and some guy just walked in so now I can't do any of my closing tasks until he leaves and maybe being a Chipotle customer should be illegal, actually" vibe to the supernatural dealings.

O’Connell: M. A thief, slimy, and generally unpleasant individual.

Cethleann: F. A Fomorian prophetess hunting O'Connell, she was exiled from home millennia ago and now walks the earth in solitude.

 
Changeling written and directed by Shannon Labadie

Kieran, Male (30s/40s age range)- Maeve’s husband who has turned to drinking to ease the pain of remaining childless- Irish accent required for role

 
You Poisoned Me written and directed by Kelsea Ray

Aoife: 18-28, F, Foul-mouthed, trailer park baby  witch looking for revenge and protection from her controlling boyfriend.

ARTHUR: 28-38, M, Egotistical Master Manipulator, Charming, insecure man who has experienced so much failure and heartache that he drinks to numb it all and takes out his pain on those closest to him.

Dearg Due: 18-30, F, Golden Hair, posh. Carries a Ghostly Elegance to distract or elude from her inner monstrous ways. A predator and a victim.
 

Haunted Whiskey by T.D. Lang, directed by Ashley Blanford

Stingy Jack (40s, male)—an immortal trickster and larger than life figure who is equal parts brash and charming. Ideally the actor should speak in an Irish accent.

Callum (early 20s, male)—a callow young man. naïve and unassuming with a touch of bravado.

The Red Cap (ageless/any age, any gender)—a horrible, twisted, hunched over goblin.

Lorg Mor or Less by Ben Donnel, directed by Ben Donnel and Marcel williams

Chad: Male or Male-presenting. An amateur thief - this is not his first rodeo, but he hasn’t quit his day job. He steals because he is disadvantaged, not malicious.

 Saoirse: Female or Female-presenting. A willing companion - in a bit over her head, but not naive. She has been casing the venue from the inside as a “student.”

The Dagda: Any gender presentation, age, body type. “The Good God,” chief among a tribe of ancient Celtic gods. The Dagda has died and faded from most memory besides myth.

Angel Skinner - Wants out, but rent and groceries and all the other essentials.

Portnoy - Desperately friendly.

Yuri - Older sibling vibes.

Stan - The “Dad” of the staff. Married to Katie.

Aimes - Deeply uncomfortable working here.

Katie - The “Mom” of the staff. Married to Stan.

Rex - Out of it.

Clive - A “fan-tasm” who loves ghosts. Frequently pops out at guests.

Barbara - Female presenting. Of Mexican-American heritage. One of the bereaved mothers from 1904. Named for the Patron Saint of Miners.

Teresa - Female presenting. Of Mexican-American heritage. One of the bereaved mothers from 1904. Named for the Patron Saint of Orphaned children and the homeless.

Artura - Female presenting. Of Mexican-American heritage. One of the bereaved mothers from 1904. Named for the Patron Saint of the kidnapped and of refugees.

Charon - The ferryman of the dead.
