Girl in the Yellow Raincoat Audition Information

East Valley Children’s Theatre’s Page to Stage program offers young playwrights the opportunity to produce a new work based on a specific writing prompt. This year's playwright, Paige Underwood, under the guidance of mentor and playwright Cori Johnson, has produced this year's work, Girl in the Yellow Raincoat:
At Friendly Pines Summer Camp, Anna struggles to fit in and becomes the target of bullying because of her yellow raincoat and love of toys. When she befriends Kendra, she thinks she has finally found someone who accepts her. But Kendra soon turns her back on Anna to
secure her place with the camp's popular clique, the Calendar Girls. As the divide among the campers grow, a dangerous monsoon flood threatens everyone at camp. At a time of disaster, Anna's unique perspective reminds everyone that community begins with accepting people for exactly who they are.
The culmination of this process results in a live performance of the new work. This presentation will only have 9 rehearsals and will primarily focus on text shaping and character work. The final presentation could range from a staged reading to a fully blocked and memorized piece; our work as a collaborative team presenting a new work will determine the final product.

PLEASE NOTE: the roles of Willow, May, Miss Eileen, June and Kendra have already been cast.
