PART-TIME MUSICAL DIRECTOR
Highly-rated Arizona theater Carnival of Illusion is in the process of bringing live music to their regularly running 100 seat illusion show and is seeking a Musical Director.
The Musical Director's primary responsibility will be to oversee, orchestrate and perform in a fun and lively quartet, playing internationally inspired music, to accompany the performers during shows.
Responsibilities include but are definitely not limited to:
- Recruit and audition capable and reliable musicians to form the core musical team.
- Plan, schedule and direct rehearsals.
- Coordinate and supervise musicians and oversee production.
- Schedule performers for weekly Saturday shows as well as coordinate backup musicians when necessary.
- Lead the musician's during live shows.
- Maintain and update musical score.
- Consistently work on delivering successful and exciting performances.
The position will require an independent, creative and motivated individual to work closely with the performer/owners to collaboratively deliver their vision of live music for the show.
All levels of experience are welcome to apply however resumes with previous experience in live theater musical direction will have preference.
Rehearsal hours are flexible. Shows are select Saturdays at 5:30 and 8:00pm. Position will be hired on a contractor basis, paid by the hour. Rate of pay to be determined by applicants subject knowledge and experience.
