Talley's Folly is a wonderful play about finding love just when you stopped looking!  Winner of both the 1980 Pulitzer Prize and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award as best play of the season, Talley’s Folly is set in the ornate, deserted Victorian boathouse on the Talley place in Lebanon, Missouri in 1944. Matt Friedman, an accountant from St. Louis, has arrived to plead his love to Sally Talley, the susceptible, but uncertain daughter of the family. Bookish, erudite, totally honest and delightfully funny, Matt refuses to accept Sally's rebuffs and her fears that her family would never approve of their marriage.

Casting:  1 Women, 1 Men

Matt: Jewish, a pleasant-looking man who could be characterized as anything from plainly attractive to handsome. Romance, however, has just about passed him by. Smart, confident, and charming, with a wry, dry sense of humor. "Warm and unhurried, he has a definite talent for mimicry."

Sally: "Quite attractive, but in no way glamorous or glamorized." Definitely not Jewish. Though she is Midwestern in her no-nonsense manner, she is also a match for Matt both intellectually and emotionally. She has a complimentary sense of humor--dry and smart in its own way.
