Synopsis
Seven original one-act plays range in style from drama and comedy to musical. Show synopsis will be provided at the auditions. Proceeds benefit the Phoenix Pride Center, a nonprofit organization.

Character Breakdown

Casting an ensemble of twelve actors, male and female, ranging in ages from 18 to 68. Characters are both straight and LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender). Actors will have the opportunity to play several roles.

Additional Info

This is the second annual production of OUTLOUD which focuses on showcasing local playwrights, as well as local performers. The one-act plays explore a variety of topics including coming out stories, challenges of dating in the modern world, fantasy and performance art.

Richard Schultz has directed throughout the Valley and in Chicago. He has a Master of Fine Arts in Directing and is a member of the national Stage Directors and Choreography Society. He is the featured theatre columnist and arts writer with Echo Magazine.

What To Prepare

The audition will include cold readings from the new one-act plays. Auditionees are asked to have a 2-minute monologue ready if asked. Those interested in the musical should prepare 16 bars of an up tempo song to be performed acapella.

Directing opportunities are available for several of the one-act plays. Also seeking scenic, sound and costume designers, as well as a choreographer, stage manager and running crew.
