2016. The show is produced by David and Corrin Dietlein, directed by Jere Van Patten, and casting
directors David and Corrin Dietlein. Performances are Wednesday – Saturday nights with Saturday
matinees.

SYNOPSIS
Sarah is a nice Jewish girl with a problem: her parents want her married to a nice Jewish boy. They
have never met her boyfriend, a WASP executive named Chris Kringle. She tells her parents she is
dating a Jewish doctor and they insist on meeting him. Sarah plans a dinner party and, over the
heated protests of Chris, employs an escort service to send her a Jewish date to be Dr. Steinberg.
Instead, they send Bob Schroeder, an aspiring actor who agrees to perform the impersonation.
Happily, he is extremely convincing in the role and Sarah's parents are enraptured. Soon, even Sarah
falls for Bob.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
SARA GOLDMAN:(20-30) Freshly pretty and educated, but slightly neurotic, unable to please
everyone in her family and herself. An independent thinker; but traditional in family values; Definitely
Jewish, but more modern in her approach to her religion. A clever girl, she gets swept away by her
white lies and handles them in a clever ballet of physical and verbal comedy.
CHRIS CRINGLE:(20-30) Sarah’s boyfriend, wise, sweet, aching to make a lifetime commitment with
Sarah, but he knows he isn’t “Jewish enough” for her parents. Unwittingly, he becomes a pawn in
Sarah’s plans.
BOB SCHROEDER:(25-35) The actor making his living (when he isn’t acting) as a clean-cut “escort.”
Great improvisational skills, with the ability to turn on a dime in timing and physical action. He is
handsome, charming, and able to be plausibly a high-powered Jewish doctor. Great comic skills.
JOEL GOLDMAN:(30-40) Sarah’s brother, a recently divorced psychiatrist who is frequently at
Sarah’s home to celebrate holidays and be part of his family unit. He is engagingly bright, with a
brittle wit and sardonic edge to his slightly depressed personality.
MIRIAM GOLDMAN:(45-60) Sarah’s traditional, overbearing, and comical Mother. She only wants
the best for her family.
ABE GOLDMAN:(50-65) Sarah’s hard-working Father who owns dry cleaning stores. He tends to
complain a bit, but also relishes being the patriarch of the family.
