Auditions for MCC Musical Theatre's production of ANYTHING GOES announced for August 24 & 25

Audition Dates: August 24 - 25, 2023 from 4:00PM - 8:00 PM
Callbacks: Saturday August 26, 9:00 AM

MCC Performing Arts Center Stage

Please prepare 2 "Golden Age Musical" songs not to exceed 2 minutes each in length. You may sing one song from Anything Goes if you wish.

Those auditioning for named roles should also prepare a 60 - 90 second monologue.

Those auditioning for an ensemble role only do not need to prepare a monologue, but are welcome to do so if desired.

An accompanist will be provided. Please bring music in the correct key properly marked.

PLEASE NOTE - All actors cast in the production are required to sign up for a 1 credit class at MCC

Company Meeting and Start of Rehearsals on August 30, 2023

The normal rehearsal schedule will be 4 - 8pm M, W, F evenings as well as most Saturdays 11am - 3pm

Tech begins October 25. Performances are November 3 - 11.

Character Descriptions

This version, based on the 1987 Lincoln Center production at the Vivian Beaumont Theater, features a revised script, updated in light of contemporary sensibilities. In this version, the race of the characters is not pivotal to the plot.

Reno Sweeney – a brassy evangelist turned nightclub singer
Hope Harcourt – a well-known debutante
Lord Evelyn Oakleigh – a wealthy Englishman
Elisha Whitney – a google-eyed tycoon
Billy Crocker – Whitney’s young assistant
Moonface Martin – a hapless gangster, Public Enemy No. 13
Erma – a tough gangster’s moll
Evangeline Harcourt – Hope’s mother, a widow [non-singing]
Spit and Dippy – two rascally New York City street toughs
Captain – of the S.S. American
Purser – aboard the S.S. American
Purity – Showgirl Angel #1 with Reno’s act
Chastity – Showgirl Angel #2 with Reno’s act
Charity – Showgirl Angel #3 with Reno’s act
Virtue – Showgirl Angel #4 with Reno’s act

MCC Music Theatre practices and supports non-traditional casting. Standbys and swings will be selected from those auditioning.
