IN THE HEIGHTS

Maricopa Community Theatre is so excited to bring this powerful musical to its community. In the Heights is set in Washington Heights — a New York City neighborhood on the brink of change. This new musical combines Latin rhythms and dance with hip-hop lyrics to tell a captivating story about what it means to chase your dreams as you cling to your roots, and to celebrate the community from which you grew.
Auditions, Callbacks, and Rehearsals will be held at the Maricopa Community Center, 41614 W Smith Enke Rd, STE 100, Maricopa AZ, 85138. Vocal Auditions will be on March 6th and 7th at 7 pm, with Dance Auditions on March 8th at 7 pm. For Vocal Auditions, please prepare 32 bars of a contemporary musical theatre song and 32 bars of a pop/r&b song. Ability to sing in Spanish is encouraged! Also, familiarize yourself with the sales rap segment of the opening number “In the Heights” approximately at 3:45 – 4:10. For Dance Auditions, please bring a water bottle and clothes that you can move in! Our choreographer will teach you a couple of pieces in a group environment.
Ages 16 and up.
Rehearsals will be Monday – Thursday from 7 pm – 9 pm, beginning March 13. Performances will be May 31st - June 2nd at 7 pm, and June 3rd at 2 pm and 7 pm. A detailed rehearsal schedule will be provided at auditions.
