As part of our DFT Presents Series, Desert Foothills Theater excitedly announces "The David Simmons Band" on September 16th and for one night only "The David Simmons Band." This all ages family event features songs from David’s upcoming CD, “Turn your Ship Around.”
Turn your Ship Around is a truly inspiring album featuring all-new material specifically created to encourage and inspire the young people of today to celebrate and explore the wonder of who they truly are and avoid giving in to social and global pressures to conform as they continue their growth and evolution.
David explains that his decision to create the album came after the death of his wife. “I began using writing as one of the ways to deal with the grief.” Says Simmons. “ That process began a little over a year ago and I have created quite a number of songs celebrating hope, encouragement and the many pathways out of the darkness and into the light.”
Currently in his second year as Production Manager at Desert Foothills Theater, Simmons previously served as Music Director, Bass and Vocalist for The Drifters. His experience as a performer, producer, educator, writer, composer, director and band-leader has taken him to all 50 states, 14 countries and 3 continents.
The album, produced by and featuring the vocals of Oscar Winning Actor J.K. Simmons, also features the vocals and percussion talents of Gardner Cole, Platinum Album Winning Producer for such artists as Amy Grant and Madonna.
