Orpheum Theatre: 203 W Adams St, Phoenix, AZ 85003
With sardonic wit and incisive social critiques, David Sedaris has become one of America’s pre-eminent humor writers. The great skill with which he slices through cultural euphemisms and political correctness proves that Sedaris is a master of satire and one of the most observant writers addressing the human condition today. Sedaris is the author of Barrel Fever and Holidays on Ice, as well as collections of personal essays, Naked, Me Talk Pretty One Day, Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim, When You Are Engulfed in Flames and Let’s Explore Diabetes with Owls, each of which became an immediate best-seller. Sedaris’ new book is a collection of his diaries titled Theft by Finding: Diaries (1977–2002). His next book is David Sedaris Diaries: A Visual Compendium (October 2017, Little, Brown and Company).
Sedaris’ essays have appeared in The New Yorker, and his original radio pieces have been heard on This American Life, distributed nationally by Public Radio International and produced by WBEZ in Chicago. Among his many honors are the Thurber Prize for American Humor, Time’s “Humorist of the Year” and Grammy nominations for “Best Spoken Word” and “Best Comedy” albums.
Returning to the historic Orpheum Theatre by popular demand, Sedaris reads some of his latest works and answers questions from the audience, followed by a book signing.
