Compiled and directed by Rosa Leigh Sullivan

Director Rosa Leigh Sullivan read about 70-80 short plays and a theme began to emerge: relationships and marriage.  She narrowed the selection down to 10 short plays to cover first dates, a proposal, misunderstandings, teasing, incompatibility and fighting all the way to a 50th anniversary.  “I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I did putting it together and working with the actors and behind-the-scenes people as well as the singers.  I think you’ll laugh and be able to relate to many of the situations in The Marriage-Go-Round.”

THE WOLVES - ASU Theatre - November 4-13, 2022

Sarah DeLappe's play “The Wolves," tells a story about dedicated, quirky and fierce female American athletes. As an indoor girls’ soccer team goes through their team warmups and drills, their discussions and gossip reveal struggles with self-discovery as they navigate life as adolescents. It's "Ted Lasso" meets "Gossip Girl" as these young women discuss everything from Cambodian war criminals to their periods, from anxiety disorders and orange slices to reproductive rights. 

Presented by the ASU School of Music, Dance and Theatre. Directed by Marissa Barnathan.

This show contains adult language and mature themes (including sex, politics, abortion, eating disorders, grief/loss and death).

Urgent Casting Notice for 3 roles in DRINKING HABITS 2 at Don Bluth Front Row Theatre

DRINKING HABITS 2: Caught in the Act is a comedy/farce in two acts and a sequel to DRINKING HABITS (published by Playscripts, Inc.). Sister Augusta and Sister Philamena have grown weary of life in the convent. So when they receive word that an orphanage will be closed down unless the convent can raise the money to save it, the sisters plot to make their award-winning wine, hiding it from the ever-watchful eye of Mother Superior. Meanwhile, Paul is still reeling from having been left at the altar a second time by his former fiancée, Sally. Determined to save the orphanage he grew up in, Paul, along with Mother Superior, Father Chenille, his very pregnant sister Kate and her husband George, decides to mount a play to raise the money the orphanage needs. But when Mother Superior believes she’s had a vision, George can’t remember his lines, and Kate can’t stop her uncontrollable cravings, things are thrown into chaos just as the curtain rises.

Age range (20s – early 40s). Caretaker and gardener at the convent. George isn’t dumb but he isn’t the brightest person either. Must be able to convincingly (and safely) act drunk/intoxicated.

Mother Superior (F)

Age range (40s – early 60s). Has been in charge of the Sisters of Perpetual Sewing for many years. Hates alcohol, especially wine. Somewhat wily.

Kate (formerly Sister Mary Catherine) (F)

Age range (20s – early 30s). A former novice nun sent to the convent to finish her training. Meek and timid. Now married to George and expecting twins any day.

About the Show

Jeff and Hunter, two struggling writers, hear about a new musical theatre festival. However, the deadline for submissions is a mere three weeks away. With nothing to lose, the pair decides to try to create something new with the help of their friends Susan, Heidi and Larry on the eighty-eights. With the cast in place, Jeff and Hunter begin a conversation about what to write about. Eventually, Jeff suggests they write about what to write about. They make a pact to write up until the festival's deadline and dream about the show changing their lives. [title of show] -- taken from the space on the festival's application form which asks for the "[title of show]" -- follows Hunter and Jeff and their friends on their journey through the gauntlet of creative self-expression. In the span of 90 minutes they write and perform their show at the festival and learn lessons about themselves as people, friends and artists.

[title of show] is, above all, a love letter to the musical theatre -- a uniquely American art form -- and to the joy of collaboration.

In this DST Academy workshop, you have the opportunity to work with casting director Chelsea Anderson to learn tips and tricks on auditioning in a professional setting!  Please prepare a 16-32 bar cut of a song of your choice (please provide your own sheet music) and a 1-minute monologue of your choice for the mock audition in the last class.

She earned a BS in Theatre from University of Indianapolis and an MFA in Acting/Directing from University of Wisconsin-Madison. Chelsea has been involved in theatre for over 25 years and currently serves as the Casting Director of The Phoenix Theatre Company of Phoenix, AZ.

“Taking the Wheel” is a journey of love and determination through the decades. Damon J Bolling in his first cabaret performance will explore love, love lost, and finding love all over again through some of his favorite songs. An intimate evening of stories and music that capture what it means to find strength and hope from the heart. 7pm showtime; Doors will open at 6pm.

For over 30 years, Damon has been fortunate enough to grace the stage and screen. The recipient of 3 AriZoni Awards for theatre excellence, Damon has acted and directed with valley theaters including Stray Cat Theatre, The Black Theatre Troupe, Theatre Works, Phoenix Theatre, Arizona Theatre Company, Fountain Hills Theatre, Desert Stages Theatre, Greasepaint Youth Theatre, and Desert Foothills Theatre. Always a proponent of social and cultural responsibility, Damon has been an advocate of storytelling through art by breaking down barriers and disrupting the status quo.
