"For over 30 years, Michael Frayn's comical farce Noises Off has been the epitome of the play within a play that goes horribly, and hilariously, off the tracks. Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields upped the ante of onstage and backstage shenanigans with their The Play That Goes Wrong, which opened in London in 2014, had a healthy Broadway run before transferring to its current Off-Broadway run, and is now out on a national tour. While I believe there are some moments in the piece that could be tightened up and a few repetitive scenes that could be trimmed to increase the hilarity, it still makes for a very funny comedy that will have you laughing out loud, chuckling and smiling for most of its two-hour duration. ".....The Play That Goes Wrong could make you hyperventilate. Really. It could also wear you down. It’s not only the cast who get a thorough work out. "...The precise and gymnastic staging by Matt DeCarlo and Mark Bell is a marathon sprint. Increasingly outrageous set and prop failures, injurious door openings and closings abound.
