Musical Theatre of Anthem Announces Summer 2019 Theatre Programs

Musical Theatre of Anthem announces their 2019 summer camps, productions, and workshops for performers ages 3-adult, including Freckleface Strawberry, the very popular Summer Performing Arts Institute (SPAI), and two productions soon to be announced at MTA’s annual benefit on March 8th.

Participants will learn from award-winning, experienced directors, vocal directors and choreographers, many of whom will also be directing shows for the upcoming season. “MTA offers something for youth of all ages and experience this summer, from a full-scale musical production to intensive workshops and minis program,” said Jackie Hammond, MTA’s Producing Artistic Director.

Freckleface Strawberry the Musical

Ages: 8-14

June 10-19 (Mon-Sat)

9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Performances: June 20-22

Cost: $375

Freckleface Strawberry the Musical (Expanded Version), based on the beloved New York Times best-selling book by celebrated actress, Julianne Moore, is a fun and touching family musical. Specifically created to perform for young audiences, families can step inside of the book's pages with Freckleface and friends as they learn to "love the skin they're in." With the help of her loveable schoolmates, including an amazingly talented ballerina, a cutie jock, a charming ditz and a totally kooky teacher, Freckleface learns that everyone is different – and that's what makes everyone special.

Summer Performing Arts Institute (SPAI)

Ages: 6-18

June 24-28

9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (M-F)

Performances: June 28^th at 5:30 p.m., 6:45 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Cost: $275

Whether you have participated in MTA's SPAI or it is your first year, you are guaranteed to learn a TON of material in dance, tap, voice, acting, and improv. The instructors have Broadway, Off-Broadway, World and National Tour experience, and are awarding-winning in their disciplines.  Participants will rotate between the various classes and instructors in their specialties. The material will include selections from our upcoming season! There will be live performances showcasing what the participants have learned in the classes.
