Season General Auditions for Childsplay's 2024/2025 Season announced for May 13

 

General Casting Call 2024-25 Season 
Monday, May 13, 2024 
4pm to 6:30pm 

Season open call auditions for Childsplay. 

Accepting both in-person and recorded auditions. 

Productions to be Cast:

Old Jake’s Skirts. 
A play with music by José Cruz Gonzalez. 

A cast of 4 actors, including one who also plays guitar. 

This play will tour Arizona schools. 
BIPOC actors are strongly encouraged to audition. 
November 2024 through May 2025 with breaks over school holidays and testing. 

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Musical. 

Open roles TBD. 

A cast of 10 actors perform all the roles in our annual holiday production. Some roles have already been cast. 

BIPOC musical theatre performers are strongly encouraged to audition. 
Rehearsals begin mid-October. 

The show runs at The Herberger Theater Center, Center Stage, from mid-November to December 23. 

Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus
A Musical based on the book by Mo Willems. 

Cast of 6 actors. 

BIPOC musical theatre performers are strongly encouraged to audition. 
January to early March 2025. 
Performed at The Herberger Theater Center, Stage West. 

Other productions in our season have already been cast, or we will cast at a future date. 

Pay: $600 per week (including rehearsals) 

Information on Childsplay and our casting policies

Founded in 1977, Childsplay is a nationally and internationally respected professional theatre company whose chosen audience is children. 

Childsplay values equity, diversity, and inclusion throughout our organization, programs and audiences. We are committed to giving underrepresented artists a safe space to create art and community. 

We acknowledge that many roles fall on the gender binary.  However limiting the descriptions are, we invite transgender, genderqueer, gender non-conforming, non-binary performers to read for the roles, cisgender or otherwise, they most identify with. We encourage actors of all body types, gender, physical abilities to audition. Unless a role is specified in the script, we will keep characters open to all backgrounds. Please let us know if you have any questions, concerns, or if there are any accommodations we can provide.

Audition Location 
Schilling Rehearsal Hall Childsplay Campus for Imagination and Wonder 900 S Mitchell Tempe, AZ 85281 

Our campus is in an old elementary school on the SW corner of Mitchell and 9th St. Entrance for the audition is on the Mitchell side of the building. 

What To Prepare 
Each auditionee has 2 minutes to complete the audition. Auditions can consist of monologues and songs. Either or a combination of the two. The total time should not exceed 2 minutes. Auditionees will be cut off at the 2-minute mark. The timing begins at the start of the first monologue or song.

An accompanist will be provided, as well as hook-ups for recorded accompaniment. 

Headshot & Resume are required. Please submit Headshot and resume with your request for an audition time. 

Virtual/Digital Auditions 
We accept virtual/digital auditions as well should this option work better than a live audition for you.
