Considered by many to be the most charming musical ever written, She Loves Me is a warm romantic comedy with an endearing innocence and a touch of old-world elegance. Set in a perfumery, we meet shop clerks, Amalia and Georg, who, more often than not, don't see eye to eye. After both respond to a "lonely hearts advertisement" in the newspaper, they now live for the love letters that they exchange, but the identity of their admirers remains unknown. Join Amalia and Georg to discover the identity of their true loves... and all the twists and turns along the way!
We will be casting two casts one ADULT (18+) and one TEEN (12-18) .
AUDITIONS:
Sign up for one 30-minute slot for Sunday, September 24, 2023. 3-5pm for Teens and 6-8pm for Adults. These auditions will be in person in small groups at Starlight Community Theater.
Please prepare to sing 32-bars of a vocal selection of your choice. Accompanist will be available. If you prefer, please bring a recorded background track without vocals.
Audition will also include short monologues from the script. These do NOT need to be memorized.

CALLBACKS: Callbacks by invitation will be held at the theater Sunday, October 1, 2023 starting at noon. Please be prepared for singing, dancing and cold reads from the script. Vocal selections will be provided prior to callbacks. Bring/wear comfortable clothing and tap shoes (if you have them). All callbacks must me done in person.
REHEARSALS: A draft rehearsal calendar is attached in RELATED FILES below. Please make sure all known conflicts are listed in relation to the calendar. These are all possible rehearsals, and you may not be called for every rehearsal. NO CONFLICTS accepted for tech week and performances. New conflicts will not be accepted after casting decisions have been made.
PERFORMANCES: She Loves Me will enjoy twelve (12) performances (six per cast) December 1-17, 2023 in person at Starlight Community Theater, 1611 W. Whispering Wind Dr. Suite #9, Phoenix, AZ 85085.
CHARACTERS: Performers of all ages, ethnicities, physical abilities and gender identities are encouraged to audition. All body types are welcome! All ages are “stage ages” and pliable.
Amalia Balash (Soprano)
The eager new employee at Maraczek's Parfumerie. Despite being a skilled saleswoman, she easily becomes intimidated and nervous. Attractive, bright, and a lover of literature. Age: 20 to 25
Georg Nowack (Tenor/Baritone)
An established employee of Maraczek's Parfumerie, he resembles a hopeless romantic. Shy, intelligent, and soft spoken. Age: 25 to 30
Ladislav Sipos (Baritone)
Not the brightest employee at Maraczek's Parfumerie. A confidant to Georg, he is an optimistic family man who looks like a huggable father. Age: 45 to 55
Ilona Ritter (Mezzo-Soprano)
Employed at Maraczek's Parfumerie. She is sexy and learned in the ways of romance, but longing for something more from the game of love. Age: 25 to 30
Steven Kodaly (Tenor)
A well respected and liked employee at Maraczek's Parfumerie. Though he is considered dapper and occasionally charming, he is more of a shallow womanizer. Age: 25 to 30
Mr. Maraczek (Baritone)
Owner of Maraczek's Parfumerie. With a commanding presence, his dedication to the trade is rivaled only by his faithfulness to his wife. Age: 55 to 65
Arpad Laszlo (Tenor/Baritone) Delivery boy at Maraczek's Parfumerie. His exuberance is infectious and commitment to his job remarkable. He is ambitious and adorable. Age: 14 to 17
Waiter (Tenor) Comedic head waiter at The Cafe Imperial. Very insistent on setting a "romantic atmosphere" for his patrons. Age: any
