Auditions for MCC Musical Theatre's production of SOMETHING ROTTEN! announced for January 19 & 20

Audition Dates: Thursday January 19 & 20, 2023 from 5:00PM - 8:00 PM
Callbacks: Saturday January 21, 9:00 AM

MCC Performing Arts Center Stage
1520 S Longmore, Mesa, AZ 85202

Please prepare 2 song cuttings not to exceed 2 minute in length.
Those auditioning for names roles should also prepare a 60 - 90 second monologue.
Those auditioning for an ensemble role only do not need to prepare a monologue, but are welcome to do so if desired.
There will be a dance audition as part of callbacks on Saturday January 21.
An accompanist will be provided.

Rehearsals begin January 23, 2023

The normal rehearsal schedule will be Monday / Wednesday /Friday from 4:00 - 7:00 PM

There will also be Saturday rehearsals from 12pm - 5pm on Jan 28, Feb 11, Feb 25 and March 4

Tech begins Monday March 20. Performances are March 30 - April 8

Roles

Shakespeare
The Bard. Over the top with a huge ego

Nick Bottom
A struggling writer who cannot stand Shakespeare. Nigel's older brother

Nigel Bottom
Nick's sweet younger brother. A struggling writer who falls in love with Portia, a Puritan

Bea
Nick's wife. She loves Nick despite his past lack of success. She dresses up like a man to prove she can be an actor

Portia
A Puritan woman who loves poetry, theater, and ultimately Nigel

Nostradamus
A soothsayer

Brother Jeremiah
Portia's father. A Puritan who thinks Nick and Nigel's plays are sinful

Ensemble roles include:
Minstrel, Townspeople, Troupe, Lord Clapham, Shylock, Man Servants, Crowd, Chorus, and more




MCC Music Theatre practices and supports non-traditional casting.

Standbys and swings will be selected from those auditioning.
