audition notice - RING OF FIRE - Fountain Hills Theater - June 16 & 17


From the iconic songbook of Johnny Cash comes this unique musical Ring of Fire about love and faith, struggle and success, rowdiness and redemption, and home and family. More than two dozen classic hits—including “I Walk The Line,” “A Boy Named Sue,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” and the title tune—performed by a multi-talented cast, paint a musical portrait of The Man in Black that promises to be a foot-stompin’, crowd-pleasin’ salute to a unique musical legend! Though he is never impersonated, Johnny Cash’s remarkable life story is told through his music, climaxing in a concert that will both move and exhilarate!

Audition Dates:
Saturday, June 16th at 4pm & Sunday, June 17th at 6pm
Callbacks (if required): Monday, June 18th at 7pm

Production dates: August 10th - 26th
Likely Extension: Through September 2nd
Performances: Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2pm

Auditioners should prepare:
- Completed audition form (downloaded from the SignUpGenius)
- 24 to 32 bars of a song that best shows off their voice
- Bring sheet music in appropriate key. No CD’s
- Dress to move for dance audition
- If you play an instrument, please bring it and prepare to demonstrate
- Headshot and resume if available
- List of possible rehearsal conflicts

CASTING:

TRENNA - Female vocalist, doubling on acoustic guitar if possible
JASON - Male vocalist playing acoustic guitar if possible
DAVE - Male vocalist playing electric guitar, banjo and fiddle if possible
EDDIE - Male vocalist playing acoustic and electric guitar if possible
MARK - Male vocalist playing bass (preferably double bass but electric bass can be used) and various percussion if possible

This small cast version of RING OF FIRE, intended for five cast members who also play the instruments, provides a more intimate performance experience. If any or all of our five cast members do not play instruments, FHT will perform the show using a separate pit band on stage.
