The Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts is looking for an energetic triple‐threat cast for their
upcoming presentation of AIN’T MISBEHAVIN’ The Fats Waller Musical Show in their cabaret space STAGE 2 with performances October 11‐27, 2018. The inimitable Thomas "Fats" Waller rose to international fame during the Golden Age of the Cotton Club and that jumpin' new beat‐ swing music!
This Tony Award‐winning musical revue evokes the delightful humor and infectious energy of this
American original with a cast that struts, strums and sings the songs that he made famous. This 40th
Anniversary production is directed and choreographed by Broadway veterans Michael Wallot and Tracey Mitchem, with musical direction by Joshua Condon.
We are looking for 5 AFRICAN‐AMERICAN males and females for the following roles:
Nell ‐ Female Age 25‐45 Soprano, must move well
Confident and charming. A knowledgeable woman of the world. She is sassy, sensual and curvaceous.
She has a horn section living in her throat. Think Dinah Washington in her prime.
Armelia‐ Female Age 25‐45 Soprano, must move well
A deceptively sweet morsel of ample flesh. She can both purr a ballad in a coquettish soprano, and
shout the blues in an earth‐shaking alto.
Charlaine‐ Female Age 20‐30. Mezzo, must dance well (tap a plus)
A sweet, young lady. A ball of energy and positive vibes with an infectious zest for life.
Ken‐ Male Age 25‐45 Bari‐Tenor, must move well
Physically robust, but light on his feet, with a gargantuan appetite for life, love and laughs. He's never
met a woman he didn't love. A surrogate Fats Waller.
André‐ Male Age 25‐45 High Baritone, must dance well (tap a plus)
An unrepentant party hound. A flirt and a bit of a womanizer. Smooth as silk and hot as a pistol.

Please include a cover letter and include any specific experience that you feel makes you a great choice for this production. You may also include links to video of you performing. We will be contacting those we are interested in bringing in for an audition mid‐July. Competitive PAY is provided including rehearsal stipend and per show pay.
Non‐Union Professional Talent only. Must be local to the Phoenix area.
Rehearsals begin September 17, 2018.
