Arizona Young Artists’ Competition
SATURDAY, MARCH 10, 2018
The Arizona Young Artists’ Competition offers aspiring young artists with an opportunity to compete in the disciplines of Acting, Dance and Musical Theatre Voice (age 15-19) and Classical Voice (age 16-20).
The competition is a collaboration between the Herberger Theater Center and Center Dance Ensemble to showcase the diverse and emerging talent of young Arizona artists, introduce them to the audition process, and provide them with an opportunity to interact with highly-regarded arts professionals. The winner in each category will receive a $1,000 scholarship to help further their education in the arts. The audience also has a chance to participate and vote for their favorite performer in the People’s Choice Awards. Arizona Broadway Theatre (ABT) partners with the Herberger Theater to sponsor an additional $1,500 scholarship to be awarded to one finalist. The winner is chosen by a panel of ABT judges and offered an opportunity to perform with the ABT professional cast in a Main Stage production.
Registration forms will only be accepted by the Herberger Theater Center. Copying the form is permitted. Entries must be received by February 25, 2018. You will be notified the week of February 26 with your preliminary audition time. Please register only if you can attend the mandatory dress rehearsal for all finalists at 1pm on Saturday, March 10.
Early registration for each discipline is $25. Early registration ends at the end of the day on February 11, 2018, at which time the registration fee is $35. Registration deadline is February 25, 2018.

Classical Voice
Ages 16 – 20
**this is for the classical voice only**
2 songs must be presented (either 2 art songs OR 1 art song and 1 aria)
1 song will be in English and 1 song in a foreign language
Time limit: 6 minutes total

Voice
Ages – 15 – 19
2 songs selections: A classic Broadway (pre 1968) and a contemporary Broadway (post 1968), not to exceed a total of 6 minutes

Acting
Ages 15 – 19
Competitors will perform 2 contrasting monologues, not to exceed a total of four minutes.

Competitors will perform one solo dance in any style not to exceed four minutes.
