Audition
Requirements:
Dancing
Everyone
who auditions (accept the adult roles)
needs to attend the dance call. We will have the dance call first. So the dance
call will start promptly at 6pm on Sunday or 8pm on Monday. Please be ready to
start on time and wear dance appropriate clothes and shoes. All adult women
should wear character heels if possible, unless you are auditioning exclusively
for Anybodys. Being West Side Story, there will be dancer only parts cast. If you are
auditioning just as a dancer, you still need to email or call to schedule which
day you are attending. This is not an “open” call.
Singing/Acting
You
need to reserve a specific singing time. Auditions will be assigned every 5
minutes, and will take place after the dance call. Please have 2 contrasting
vocal selections of 32 bars or less ready in an appropriate key. An accompanist
will be provided. Please do not sing anything from the show and no cds or
acapella singing will be allowed. You will also be asked to do a monologue, not
to exceed 1 minute.
For
the non-singing adult roles, please have 2 contrasting monologues, not to
exceed 1 minute each, ready. You may not be asked to do both, but please have 2
ready.

Dance Ensemble
Jets,
Sharks, Jets Girls, Sharks Girls – These dance only parts are an important
aspect of any West Side production. From the opening, to the Dance at the Gym,
to America for the Shark Girls, to the Somewhere Ballet, dance only roles are
vital. If auditioning for a dance only part, you do not need to stay for the
singing call, but you do still need to reserve an audition slot.
