Estrella Mountain Community College’s Performing Arts Center is teaming up with Valley music and theatre professional David Simmons to provide a short series of brand new acting classes for students of all ages! An AriZoni and Governor’s Arts Award nominee, David has been working throughout the valley in his many roles as an educator, actor, musician, writer, composer, director and music director. His work with the Arizona Broadway Theatre, Phoenix Theatre & Phoenix Symphony, Palms Theatre, West Valley Arts Council, Musical Theatre of Anthem, Christian Youth Theatre and Lonely Street Productions have made him a familiar name and face throughout the valley in his few short years here.
The classes (three sections entitled, “Making a Scene: Acting for Everyone!”) are each geared to serve community members of varying ages. Students will be learning and developing their acting, movement and musical skills through engaging games, exercises, improvisational techniques, existing scenes & songs and group & individual activities. NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: This class is open to students of all experience levels and abilities and will be uniquely tailored to the capability of the individual students and class as a whole. Classes will meet on the following schedule for five consecutive Saturdays from September 26 through October 24.
• 10:00am – 11:15am, ages 7-12
• 11:30am – 1:00pm, ages 13-18
• 1:30pm – 3:00pm, Adult (age 19 and up)
All classes will be taught in EMCC’s brand new Performing Arts Center located at the northwest corner of the campus at 3000 N Dysart Rd, Avondale, AZ 85392. For further details and to enroll please click on the following links…
