"a swinging, vibrantly alive tribute to the wonderfully jazzy Thomas Wright “Fats” Waller music he wrote between the mid ‘20’s and early ‘40’s. His tunes were popular with the public and shine beautifully in the jazzy Arizona Theatre Company (ATC) production that explodes all over the Tempe Center’s stage. The winningly rich ATC production is one of the company’s best musical homages and they’ve done their share of these extravaganzas over the years." -Chris Curcio, Curtain Up Phoenix (click here to read the complete review)
"ATC’s revival of the show that once jolted Broadway awake doesn’t so much exhume a hit as reanimate a spirit. What rises here is not nostalgia, but the sly, barrelhouse soul of a great Black artist reclaiming the room on his own terms. As shaped by the assured hand of director and choreographer Dell Howlett, the production’s success is its refusal to lacquer the evening with extra showbiz gloss."
