"Arun Lakra's Heist" is a slick, fast moving crime caper that ultimately delivers a satisfying payoff, even if it takes a bit of time to find its footing. Arizona Theatre Company is presenting the U.S. premiere of the play with lively direction and a cast that plays into the somewhat cartoonish characters...While Lakra's play ultimately works, the first act occasionally feels unfocused, with a lot of information coming at the audience in fits and starts, but the second act tightens the screws and rewards patience with clever twists, sharper storytelling, and an engaging conclusion." - Gil Benbrook, TalkinBroadway.com (click here to read the complete review)
"It’s rare when the Arizona Theatre Company presents a disappointing production but such is the case with the American premiere who-dun-it “Heist.” While the staging is decent, it is a long way from ATC’s finest with an inferior scenic design of a hard-to-decipher contemporary New York locale, cliched and directed lighting, non-distinct present-day garb, plodding direction, and acting that reaches for every mystery character stereotype, but it is Arun Lakra’s script that dooms “Heist.” " -Chris Curcio, Curtain Up Phoenix (click here to read the complete review)
