DESERT FOOTHILLS THEATER ANNOUNCES THE SUMMER TEEN DREAM PROJECT, A SPECIAL PRODUCTION FOR TEENS 15-19!
MUSICAL THEATER CREATED BY TODAY'S TALENTED TEENS.
Again this summer, DFT is looking to cast passionate teens who will come together to envision, create, and perform DFTs season opener! A directing team, musical director and choreographer stand ready to support and mentor the inspired work of a remarkable group of young artists. It's your turn to take ownership of a show and we'll provide the resources to make it a great success!
WHAT IS THE SUMMER TEEN DREAM PROJECT?
If you've ever been in a show where you feel you have great ideas, or want a new way to stretch your talents, or perhaps learn and lead at the same time, this is a project for you! Actors will be expected to actively participate in all aspects of the theatrical process.
How it works...
Audition
If cast, get creative and courageous and be prepared to fiercely collaborate with your fellow cast mates and DFT mentors to present a production of 13 The Musical you can be proud of.
Perform eight amazing shows that you had a direct hand in crafting from the opening number through the encore applause!
Use this project to make your college essays pop with meaningful theatrical experiences. Explore rare opportunities to design and produce theatre from beginning to end. Check off community service hours, and hang with friends all summer long!

About the Show
Geek. Poser. Jock. Beauty Queen. Wannabe. These are the labels that can last a lifetime. With an unforgettable rock score from Tony Award-winning composer, Jason Robert Brown, (Parade, The Last Five Years, Bridges of Madison County) 13 is a musical about fitting in – and standing out!
Evan Goldman is plucked from his fast-paced, preteen New York City life and plopped into a sleepy Indiana town following his parents' divorce. Surrounded by an array of simpleminded middle school students, he needs to establish his place in the popularity pecking order. Can he situate himself on a comfortable link of the food chain... or will he dangle at the end with the outcasts?!?
The cast is comprised entirely of teenagers, but the stories that come to life here are ageless, the emotions they explore timeless, the laughter and the memories they provide priceless.
