AUDITION INFORMATION
A dance call and initial singing auditions will be in person on January 24th. Your general audition will include two 16-bar cuts and a mandatory dance audition. Please arrive at our campus at least 20 minutes before the dance call to sign in and fill out an Audition Application. Sign up HERE for a singing time slot on sign-up genius.

Callbacks will take place in person January 26th.

This is a 1-Credit Course. All participants cast in our production are required to enroll in Musical Theatre

Production (MUP273/THP273) before our first rehearsal, January 31st.

DANCE AUDITION
Tuesday, January 24th from 4-5pm in PAC 150 at the Arnette Scott Ward Performing Arts Center

Chandler Gilbert Community College - Pecos Campus

Mandatory
Be prepared to move and dance, wearing proper clothing and footwear (sneakers, tennis shoes, flexible jazz-type shoes are ideal; no tap shoes needed). You will be taught a combination the day of the call, so no need to prepare anything.

GENERAL AUDITION
Tuesday, January 24th from 5:30-9pm on Stage

Mandatory
Please bring a headshot and resume if you have one, and prepare the following materials (a pianist will be provided):

● One 16-bar song cutting from a Broadway show.
○ Approximately 30 seconds long, you will need to provide sheet music or an electronic copy
(emailed prior to the audition) for the collaborative pianist.

● One 16-bar song cutting from the show
○ Options of cuts from Beauty and the Beast will be made available

CALLBACKS
By invitation
Thursday, January 26th from 4-7pm on Stage

● Vocal and reading sides will be provided via email prior to callbacks.

All are welcome to audition and will be considered for roles regardless of age, experience level, race, gender expression, or sexual orientation. The production team is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the show process.

Belle - A young woman with an independent spirit and a love of reading. F5-E3
Beast - The cursed Prince and master of the castle. F4-A2
Maurice - Belle’s slightly addled genius inventor father. Db-Bb2
Gaston - A rude, narcissistic hunter who assumes the world belongs to him. E4-A2
Lefou - Gaston’s fawning friend, not too bright. F#4-B2
Les Filles De La Ville (3) - A group of Gaston’s fanatical female followers who energetically pursue him in the hopes of winning
Lumiere - A charming French valet who fancies himself a ladies man; becomes a candelabra. F#4-F32
Cogsworth - An officious, excitable, English major-domo; becomes a mantle clock. E4-A2
Mrs. Potts - A sweet, kind-hearted head of the kitchen staff and mother to Chip; becomes a teapot. G5-F#3
Chip - Mrs. Potts’s hopeful young son; becomes a teacup. F5-A3
Madame De La Grande Bouche - A grand, larger-than-life opera singer; becomes a wardrobe. D5-C#4
Babette - A flirtatious maid; becomes a feather duster. F5-C4
Monsieur D'arque - Proprietor of the local insane asylum. A4-D3
Villagers - Includes Shepherd, Marie, Tavern Master, Laundry Lady, Baker, Milkmaid, Flower Seller, Sausage Curl

Castle Staff - Becomes various objects, including a Gargoyle, Flatware, and Napkins
Narrator - Begins the tale of the young Prince who became a beast
Young Prince - A spoiled, orphaned young man
Old Beggar Woman - An enchantress in disguise

ABOUT THE MUSICAL
The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince
trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he
will be transformed into his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and
his household will be doomed for all eternity.

Rehearsals will be Tuesdays and Thursday from 4-6:30pm, and Friday for 4-8pm

TECHNICAL HOURS AND WORK CALL
All students participating in a production must complete 10 tech hours per semester and participate in strike post show. Sign-up sheets for tech hours will be available early in the rehearsal process.

ATTENDANCE
Students are only permitted to miss rehearsal for academic course conflicts. All other conflicts must be listed on the audition form prior to auditioning. Conflicts will be taken into account in consideration for casting. All other releases must be approved through Joey Johnston.
