"...Bandstand...focuses on a group of servicemen who've returned home after World War II as they struggle to fit back into society. It's a serious show that does a fairly good job in depicting how the trauma and horrors of war can impact a group of soldiers and how music has the power to heal. However, while the show has an upbeat, jazz, and swing music score and the book does a pretty good job depicting post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), the show's plot struggles a bit and isn't entirely successful, with a leading lady who doesn't appear until well into the first act.
