Play Synopsis: Greg and Kate have moved to Manhattan after twenty-two years of child-raising in the suburbs. Greg brings home a dog he found in the park—or that has found him—bearing only the name “Sylvia” on her name tag. A street-smart mixture of Lab and poodle, and played by a human actress, Sylvia becomes a major bone of contention between husband and wife. The marriage is put in serious jeopardy until, after a series of hilarious and touching complications, Greg and Kate learn to compromise, and Sylvia becomes a valued part of their lives.

Roles Available: 2 Men, 2-4 Women

Greg is a man of middle age, a restless empty-nester, tired of his job in finance, looking for meaning in his life. Sylvia is an exuberant and beautiful lab/poodle mix, astray in Central Park, looking for a new home. Kate (Greg’s Wife), a busy rising star in the public school system, is looking forward to some inde-pendence now that the couple no longer has children to care for, and is less than thrilled by the clever and coquettish canine who jumps, slobbers, sits on her couch, and takes Greg’s attention away from his mar-riage. 3 supporting characters - Tom, Phyllis, and Leslie are usually played by one actor, but could be expanded to 2 or 3

Additional Info: All performers cast in the production are required to register for the THP 201AA Theatre Production Class (1 credit). Scholarships Available!
