Valley teen Casey Likes to star in premiere musical adaptation of ALMOST FAMOUS in San Diego

Valley theatre favorite Casey Likes, who represented Phoenix in the recent National High School Awards (the Jimmy Awards) in New York City, has been cast as one of the male leads in the upcoming musical adaptation of the hit film Almost Famous.

The show premieres at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego this Fall, running September 13–October 20, with a score by Tony and Pulitzer winner Tom Kitt (Next to Normal) and a book and lyrics by Cameron Crowe. Crowe won the Oscar for his screenplay which was based on his own teenage journalistic experiences.

Likes will play the part of William Miller, the role based on Crowe. Miller is a teenage journalist working for Rolling Stone magazine who follows the band Stillwater as they tour across the country in the 1970s.

Colin Donnell, who recently starred on the TV show Chicago Med, and also appeared on Broadway in Anything Goes and Violet, will star as Russell Hammond, the leader of Stillwater, and Hamilton's Solea Pfeiffer will star as Penny Lane, Hammond's #1 groupie.

Jeremy Herrin directs the production, with choreography by Lorin Latarro, Tony winners Derek McLane, David Zinn and Natasha Katz designing the sets, costumes and lighting, respectively, and sound design by Peter Hylenski. Bryan Perri serves as music director.
