The prequel to Shakespeare's most famous historical trilogy, Richard the Second is a thrilling political drama that still resonates today with national and personal themes of leadership, loyalty, and legitimacy. An all-female cast brings new life and vision to this classic work, re-imagining the usurpation of Richard's throne by the banished upstart Henry Bolingbroke (later Henry the Fourth). Richard the Second is the second production in our Blackfriars Series, inspired by the original principles of Shakespeare's indoor winter theater of the same name.
