Arizona Broadway Theatre's Summer Academy Young Performers
Arizona Broadway Theatre today announced the summer camp lineup for the 2018 Academy for Young Performers summer programs. ABT’s Academy for Young Performers provides children interested in the performing arts the opportunity to explore their creativity and expand their imagination. All classes focus on acting, music and movement instruction.
The Academy inspires young people ages 7-18 to develop an appreciation for the performing arts as well as instilling self-confidence and personal growth through the exploration of theatre skills. Classes are great for beginners but are also effective for those with theatre experience. Most sessions are Monday through Friday from 9:30 to 3:30. Before and/or after care is available.
The Imagination Camp is for children interested in creativity, imagination, and theatre arts but not necessarily in performing before a live audience. During the energetic sessions, children design their own characters, costumes and props, and write songs about their characters. Each session concludes with the children sharing what they’ve learned with their loved ones.
The Performance Camp is for children interested in performing in a show. Children audition, rehearse, and participate in a variety of professional classes including acting, voice, and movement. Each session features a stage performance in front of a live audience on the final day.
2018 Imagination Camps: Fantastical Beasts, July 9-13, ages 10-12; Wrinkle in Time, July 16-20, ages 7-9.
2018 Performance Camps: Mary Poppins, June 4-15, ages 10-12, performance June 16, 9AM; Panik at the Disco, June 18-July 5, ages 13-18, performance July 5, 7PM; MCT’s The Princess and the Pea, July 23-27, ages 7-15, performance July 28, 9AM.
ABT makes every effort to provide performing arts education and experiences to all interested children, regardless of their ability to pay, and offers a select number of scholarships.
