East Valley Children's Theatre's 2017 / 2018 Season!

King Thrushbeard
By  C. Lynn Johnson

September 28 – October 8 2017

Cora is a beautiful princess. Reginald is a bachelor King. Their pairing should be a match made in a fairytale, but in this story nobody is what they seem. One by one, the spoiled princess rejects each suitor brought before her. Finally, her father decrees she would marry the next man to walk through thepalace door, and the result is more than anyone bargained for! Now married to a poor commoner – Reginald in disguise – she moves to the surrounding forests where they are beset with trials and tribulations that teach them both that sometimes there is more to people than meets the eye. Through the meddling antics of an impish minstrel, a band of thieves and three blind mice, Cora and Reginald just might find happily ever after. A must see for children of all ages.

Two compelling stories come together in this heartwarming play inspired by the famous editorial by Francis P. Church, Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus. On Christmas Eve, 1897, in New York City, eight-year-old Virginia is left pondering whether or not Santa really exists after a series of unhappy events. Meanwhile, a newspaper editor also struggles against tough holiday times as he is faced with losing his job if he can’t find his writer’s voice by morning. Even though they don’t know each other, the spirit of Christmas is about to bring these people together, creating in the process an unforgettable and cherished part of classic Christmas folklore. A great Holiday show for the entire family.
