Phoenix Chamber Music Society - Upcoming concerts

IN ITS 55th SEASON, PHOENIX CHAMBER MUSIC SOCIETY ANNOUNCES ITS 2014-2015 SEASON
 Phoenix, AZ – The Phoenix Chamber Music Society began 55 years ago and today continues to present the finest chamber music in the world. The 2014-2015 season continues that legacy by presenting  seven chamber groups from around the country as well includes a “coming home” performance at ASU Kerr for the first time since 1975. Louise Kerr, an avid chamber music player, was a founder and enthusiastic supporter of the Society.

Jupiter Quartet
 Season subscriptions are on sale now for $225. As a subscriber, benefits include reduced ticket prices. Single tickets are now on sale as well and start at $10 for students at $35 for general public.  “I am thrilled to present another season of intimate chorale groups that are world renowned. As one of the top chamber societies in the United States, we are so lucky to have such talented musicians perform in our state,” says Janet Green Executive Director,.

The 2014-2015 season performances will be held at Camelback Bible Church, 3900 E. Stanford Dr, Paradise Valley, AZ.

    In its 13th season, the Jupiter Quartet was awarded an Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2008 and previously won top honors at the Banff International String Quartet and Fischoff National Chamber Music competitions. Jon Nakamatsu's won the 1997 Van Cliburn Gold Medal and activly tours with leading orchestras (Dallas, Detroit, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Tokyo and Vancouver), chamber collaborations and solo recitals.

    Musicians of the Fauré Quartet met during their studies in 1995 in Karlsruhe for the 150th anniversary of Gabriel Fauré. In 2010, the ensemble was awarded the ECHO Classic for its album “Classic Beyond Borders”. Their recording of Brahms' Piano Quartets won the Chamber Music recording of the year in 2008.

    This quartet brings together Peter Stumpf, former principal cello of the LA Philharmonic; Choong-Jin Chang, principal viola of the Philadelphia Orchestra; Soovin Kim, the first American to win the Paganini Violin Competition in 24 years; and Jessica Lee, a Concert Artist Guild International Competition winner. The Johannes has been praised for its special combination of passion, elegance and poetry.
