Auditions for the 90th Season at MESA ENCORE THEATRE are officially open, and they are kicking things off with The Color Purple!
This inspiring musical adaptation of Alice Walker’s Pulitzer Prizewinning novel follows Celie, a young Black woman in the American South, on a decades-long journey of triumph, love, and resilience, set to a soul stirring score of gospel, jazz, ragtime, and blues.

"Set on the campus of a small Vermont college, Rebecca Gilman's drama, Spinning into Butter, is a thought-provoking and provocative piece that examines race, prejudice, privilege, and the ways people realize and attempt to confront their own racial biases. It explores the difference between believing oneself to be tolerant and actually challenging and overcoming one's beliefs and their deeply ingrained attitudes about race. Although the play occasionally struggles with pacing, particularly during an extended monologue in the second act, Ghostlight Theatre's production is well cast and directed and offers an evocative exploration that asks difficult questions about and examines racial prejudices. We are looking for a cast of performers for a Fall themed cabaret to help support the funding of our first season of shows as a production company!

WHEN: SEPTEMBER 8-9TH 6:30PM-9:00PM
WHAT TO PREPARE: 30-45 seconds of a song you are interested in performing for our cabaret in the style of the season, whether that be Halloween directly or Autumn in general. This can be either a musical theatre or non musical theatre song. You are welcome to bring a supporting track on a device, we will have a speaker provided for accompaniment. We will have LIVE ACCOMPANIMENT on SEPTEMBER 8th, Please bring backing tracks if signing up on the 9th.

The jungle is jumpin’ with a jazzy beat in Disney’s The Jungle Book KIDS. Specially adapted from the classic Disney animated film, Disney’s The Jungle Book KIDS features a host of colorful characters and your favorite songs from the movie.
Banished by the ferocious tiger, Shere Khan, a human boy named Mowgli and his panther friend, Bagheera, are on the run in the deepest parts of the jungle. On their journey, the two meet a sinister snake named Kaa, a herd of elephants and a giant bear named Baloo, who teaches them the swingin’ musical rhythms of the jungle. After surviving a dangerous encounter with a band of monkeys led by King Louie, Mowgli and Bagheera are forced to run for their lives. When Shere Khan returns, our heroes must rally their fellow animals into battle and restore peace throughout the jungle.

LADY MACBETH (Female identifying) Obsessed with the finer things in life, enjoying life's pleasures, and entertaining those around her, including herself. (Role will involve intimacy)
SANTA CLAUS ( Male Identifying) An authoritarian brute who runs the workshop with an iron fist and a cold heart. A total narcissistic nightmare. (Role requires high amount of physicality and intimacy)
MALCOM (Male identifying) The son of Santa and Mrs. Claus. A whiny, spineless, lost young soul who yearns for acceptance and love from his parents. ( Role will involve stage combat)
MRS. CLAUS (Female Identifying) At wit's end when it comes to her family, Mrs. Claus has spent her days living a life filled with regrets.

"Catch Me If You Can may not have proven popular in its initial 2011 Broadway run, lasting only six months, but its catchy, jazz-infused score, intriguing book, and captivating characters make for a snazzy musical comedy. Hale Centre Theatre's current production is fantastic, with sure-footed direction and a cast who deliver excellent portrayals, including Joshua Ransford and Austin Delp as the two leads: a young con man on the run and the FBI agent trying to catch him....Director Cambrian James does a wonderful job in not only keeping the show moving at a quick pace but in ensuring the actors bring emotional weight to their roles while also instilling a wonderful 1960s sensibility in the actors' portrayals and in his wonderful choreography. ...understudy Joshua Ransford and Austin Delp.. both excel in their roles. Ransford has the perfect blend of youthful innocence and enthusiasm. His clear, powerful singing voice soars on his many songs and the charisma he brings to Frank instantly makes him a likable young man, even though he's a crook. Delp is fantastic as Hanratty. Dissolving hauntingly into the Last Supper and the Crucifixion, Jesus’ messages of kindness, tolerance and love come vibrantly to life.

Play Synopsis: As their tenth wedding anniversary party commences, Charlie lies bleeding in another room, and his wife Myra is nowhere in sight. The first guests, lawyer Ken Gorman and his wife Chris, scramble to get “the story” straight before the other guests arrive. As the confusions and miscommunications mount, the evening spins off into classic farcical hilarity.

Ken Gorman – A well-respected lawyer and a close friend of Charlie and Myra. Ken is intelligent, quickthinking, and often tries to take charge when things spiral out of control. He is married to Chris.
Chris Gorman – Ken’s wife. Chris is nervous, excitable, and prone to panic under pressure, but she is also caring and supportive, and tries to maintain order amid the chaos.
Lenny Ganz – A sarcastic, sharp-witted accountant. Lenny is quick with a joke or a biting remark, especially when stressed. He is married to Claire.
Claire Ganz – Lenny’s wife. Claire is elegant, observant, and enjoys sharing gossip. She is loyal to her friends and quick to offer her opinions.
Ernie Cusak – A psychiatrist and amiable guest, Ernie is calm and tries to remain rational, often mediating disputes among the group. He is married to Cookie.
Cookie Cusak – Ernie’s wife, a quirky and enthusiastic cooking show host. Cookie is dramatic, eccentric, and physically comedic, with a tendency for back spasms.
Glenn Cooper – A rising politician with his fair share of insecurities and secrets. Glenn is imageconscious and ambitious, often concerned about his reputation. He is married to Cassie.
Cassie Cooper – Glenn’s wife. Cassie is attractive and high-strung, spiritual, and believes in crystals. She is jealous and suspicious of Glenn, leading to frequent arguments.
Officer Welch – A tough, no-nonsense police officer. Welch is skeptical of the group’s story and persistent in seeking the truth about the evening’s mysterious events.
Officer Pudney – Welch’s junior partner. Pudney is quieter, less experienced, and mainly observes,
