FAT MEN IN YOGA PANTS - Ronin Theatre Collaborative - July 11-13, 2025

Ronin Theatre Collaborative presents a new one man show written by & starring our long time collaborator, Assistant Professor at the University of Arkansas, Ben Corbett "Fat Men in Yoga Pants"

"Fat Men In Yoga Pants" is a semi-autobiographical work wherein an everyday Vinyasa 2 yoga class becomes a crucible for 90s cruising, crushes on Pedro Pascal, and it's-funny-when-it-happens-to-guys when Ben accidentally says the quiet part out loud during an hour flow of yoga poses and discovery.

Ben Corbett is an Emmy-award winning documentarian, playwright, vocal coach, and actor currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Voice and Acting in the UA Theatre department. His first documentary, The Arkansas Accent Project, won a Mid-America Emmy in 2024 for Human Interest-Long Form Content. He obtained his MFA in Acting from the University of Pittsburgh and his BA in Drama from the University of Dallas. Ben previously taught voice and acting at the William Inge Center for the Arts/Independence Community College as an Associate Professor of Theatre, Oklahoma City University as an Associate Professor of Voice and Acting, and Appalachian State University as an adjunct lecturer. Ben specializes in voice, and is certified as a Designated Linklater Voice Teacher and Colaianni Speech Instructor. His professional vocal coaching credits include Shakespeare Dallas, City Rep, the William Inge Theatre Festival, the Last Frontier Theatre Conference, the Hollywood Fringe Festival, Nashville Shakespeare Festival, Barter Theatre, Burning Coal Theatre Company, and Shakespeare Santa Cruz. He serves as an actor and vocal coach as a Featured Artist at the Valdez Theatre Conference in Valdez, AK.  He is proud to be part of Actors Equity Association and the Dramatists Guild.

Assisting in the realization of this project, Monica Sampson, Artistic Director of All Queer Shakespeare, will be the show's intimacy coordinator. In their first show as Designer in Residence for Ronin, Kody Hernandez, will be designing the lighting elements for the show. Rounding out the team is Elizabeth Broeder, designing the soundscape of this yoga session where all the quiets parts are said out loud.

Director of this production, Cody Goulder will usher in his term as Artistic Director for Ronin Theatre Company with this production. Already he has assembled a team of capable theatre veterans from around Arizona to aid him in the execution of his vision.
