Arizona Musical Theatre Academy's June Masterclasses

We are so excited to offer 3 fantastic Masterclasses for June:

ACTING MASTERCLASS:

The incredible CHANEL BRAGG will be teaching an Acting Your Song MasterClass. Students will explore acting techniques to break down a song of their choice, and will have the opportunity to have one on one coaching with Chanel as she guides them in creating a well rounded performance. 

Ages 8-12
Tuesday June 17th and 24th (we recommend attending both classes)
5pm-6:15pm 
COST: $40 per student per class
CLASS SIZE LIMITED

Ages 13+
Tuesday June 17th and 24th 
6:30pm-8pm
COST: $55 per student per class

DANCE CLASSES:

The fantastic RYAN ARDELT will be returning to teach both our Musical Theater Technique and Tap classes. Both classes will start with a basic warm up followed by technique training and a combination. Dance is one of the most iMPORTANT aspects of musical theater and we are always so happy to offer our students the opportunity to continue to learn and grow in the field of dance!

ABOUT OUR GUEST INSTRUCTORS:

CHANEL BRAGG: is an ardent advocate for diversity in the Arizona Fine Arts Community, co-founded The Soul of Broadway Performance Troupe in 2009, showcasing regional African American talent. In 2015, she established The United Colours of Arizona Theatre, a hub for actors of color to network and to cultivate  their craft. Here, members can find general postings for jobs, audition workshops, dance symposiums, vocal direction, and so much more.

Chanel, a Freelance Director and Teaching Artist,  is notably proud of her work with Arizona State University, Northern AZ University, Pima Community College, Spotlight Youth Theatre,  and Free Arts for Abused Children of AZ. 

Chanel has performed on stages across the country. Her favorite roles include: The Sour Kangaroo (Seussical) , Audrey #2 (Little Shop of Horrors) Effie (Dream Girls), Dorothy (The Wiz), Joanne  (Rent), and Ruth “A Raisin in the Sun”.

Chanel sits proudly on the board at Spotlight Youth Theatre, served as the Associate Artistic Director for Arizona Theatre Company for 3 seasons, highlighted in both the PHOENIX Magazine's "Great 48" (https://www.phoenixmag.com/2021/07/07/the-great-48-2021/)  and American Theatre Magazine’s “10 rising Black Women to Watch in the American Theatre”.

RYAN ARDELT: is a Grand Canyon University graduate with a BA in Theatre and a dance minor. He is Phoenix native and has been performing as a local musical theatre artist for several years. Some of his credits include: Don Lockwood Understudy/ Ensemble in Singing in the Rain, Rolf in The Sound of Music, Mike in A Chorus Line (The Phoenix Theatre Company) Older Patrick in Mame (Arizona Broadway Theatre), and Sammy Splitsole in Tappy the Elf (Tap 24.7). Along with performing, Ryan has choreographed many productions around the valley, including Mary Poppins at GCU in which he was nominated for an AriZoni award. He is passionate about tap dance and is a part of the professional Phoenix tap company Tap 24.7 where he writes, composes, and performs original productions in collaboration with the company members. Ryan is passionate about teaching and has taught dance, musical theatre, and masterclasses at award winning youth theatres and dance studios in the Phoenix metropolitan area including The Dance Project, Dynamic Motion Dance Academy, Actor’s Youth Theatre, Valley Youth Theatre, Christian Youth Theatre, and more.
