Lungs

Show Synopsis:

The world is getting hotter, there’s unrest overseas — the seas themselves aren’t very calm — and one couple is thinking about having a child. Lungs is a smart and funny drama that follows a couple through the surprising life cycle of their relationship, as they grapple with questions of family and change, hope, betrayal, happenstance, and the terrible pain that you can only cause the people you love.

Character Info:

"M"
Lead. Male. 30s. Any ethnicity. An aspiring musician, working at a record store. He wants to have a baby with his long-term girlfriend, "W." When she miscarries, his clumsy and insensitive response ends their relationship. Years later, after a one-night stand reconnects them, he must decide whether to grow up or lose what matters most to him.

Audition Instructions:

To be considered, please submit a video of you performing a 60- to 90-second monologue from a published, contemporary stage play of your choice. (Please, no monologues from films and no self-authored material.)

The character of "M" is written as a cisgender man, and his gender identity as such is central to the story. We will consider actors of all genders who are comfortable playing this role and can present as a cisgender man on stage.

We are only casting the role of "M" at this time. The role of "W" has already been cast.
