"Sue Mengers may not be a household name but she was the first female power agent in Hollywood who had a large pool of A-list clients, including Barbra Streisand, Gene Hackman, Peter Bogdanovich, Ali McGraw and Michael Caine. She was also known for her dinner parties, where the latest Hollywood gossip was a main dish on the menu. In John Logan's one-woman comedy I'll Eat You Last: A Chat with Sue Mengers, Mengers takes center stage as she talks about her life, past and present clients, and how she became to be such a powerful agent, all while dishing plenty of gossip as she waits for an important phone call. iTheatre Collaborative presents a solid production of this chatty and intriguing play with an excellent performance by Laura Durant as Mengers....Durant is excellent in connecting the dots in Logan's script, and in the stories that Mengers recounts of her past and her dealings with her clients, to add up to a greater whole that allows us to see and understand this woman, warts and all....a rich discovery of one woman's journey to the top of the Hollywood power ladder through her own persistence and dedication to her clients. In iTheatre Collaborative's winning production, Laura Durant beautifully evokes a richly detailed and memorable portrait of this formidable woman." -Gil Benbrook, Talkin' Broadway (click here to read the complete review)
